Hi Nikki The 56 Ohm 5watt resistor is well within the range of the original specs from Danie. The tolerance speccced is 10% either way for Ohm Watt should remain at 5 max in my opinion Spikes Hi Guys I recently bought the above resistor to replace the big faulty green one on Nikita's instrument panel discussed earlier. The new one is much smaller and what I would describe as the more 'normal' type with the coloured bands. I presume this won't be a problem but this got me wondering if the resistor should be fitted in a certain direction. Does anyone know? NIKKI

I am planning on fitting another motor on mine and making it two speed. wiper motors are one of the only electrical components that I do not fully understand.

By default, I have a 4 speed wipers:
1> Not moving even when switched on 2> Working very slowly, like about 30 seconds a directions 3> Slow 4> Fast
Fixed it all by replacing the fuse.

Ok Charles.....do it. Well, I bought a timer switch and I have made a mod on it. It is a "built your own" electronic kit. the original circuit the modified circuit the parts R1, R2, R5………3,9KΩ 1\4 W R3……………….6.8KΩ 1\4 W R4……………….47KΩ 1\4 W D1, D2…………..1N4148 D3……………….1N4001 C1……………….100μF\25V Q1……………….BC548 U1……………….LF351 ή TL081 K1.........................RELAY P1.........................470KΩ lin the construction the connection A connected and supplied with +12V from the windscreen wipers switch (first place, intermittent operation) B is connected to the windscreen wipers motor and gives the startup command. through the potentiometer I can change the intermittent operation of the windscreen wipers on about a move every 3 seconds to a move every minute. The construction is located behind the panel with the gauges I have made another one for the rear without potentiometer which does a move every one minute. I changed the electrical wiring on the switch so that the first position to be the intermittent operation and the button position the continuous operation It work perfect!!!!! ....... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Very clever Dimitris.
Just a question while we talking about wipers.Ventz mentioned to me a while back that the relay is adjustable so you can set the speed for the intermittent setting. Anyone else tried this or know anything about this?

Good morning Conrad That I have now is the third niva, all were 1600 and all had problematic relays. The operating speed was never stable and it made me fret. That's why I made the conversion.
Yes you can change the operating speed a bit if you open or close the contacts of the relay .... but it is still a problematic part.

Hi Bevan
For starters, clean the earth contacts at all the indicator lights. The rear cluster has one common earth per side.

I agree with Spikes. Mine did the same and I just cleaned the earth on the rear lights.

Hi Bevan
This is a VERY common problem with the Niva. Clean the rear contacts with a contact cleaner every now and then and make sure the bulps are secure - they tend to loosen over time esp if you drive on bumpy gravel roads.
