If I remember correctly, my Lada's engine could be turned off while the lights were on.
Anyway - the engines on my Focus, as well as both motorcycles can be turned off while the lights are on.

When I started the ELECTRICAL ISSUES thread one of the first things I mentioned was the funny things that happened when I switched off the engine with the lights on. So, yes, you can definitely turn the engine off with the lights on. Perhaps these two threads should be combined because they are both about electrical issues? NIKKI

I want one of those Dremel tools!!! The wire stripper in pic 2 is also very nice. As soon as the price is right I am buying myself one of them. That Dremel tool is great. Might buy a gas soldering iron and make myself one... I just hate the Scotch lock. They are useless if you live close to the sea. The wires just corrode of. For those of you that does not know what it is I have attached a pic. Regards Charles Ps Jan you are costing me alot of money. Attachments:

Hi Jan
The "Stream Sweetheart" connector is used here by the Tow bar installers. They are in fact RUBBISH and should never be used. The crimping pliers with the blue handles are the only ones that should be used to crimp pre-insulated connectors. The soldered connectors are interesting and I have not seen them before. I simply solder and tape that type of joint.

Ronnie you mean the pliers with the light blue handles?

Hi Charles
Yes the ones with the light blue handles. A lot of people use "indent" crimping pliers but they are only correct for uninsulated connectors as used in the electrical trade.

They deliver country wide and accept Paypal. I have a feeling I will be spending lots of money there.

Charles, i will make some next week. Please remind me if i forget I just ordered some ripcaseals to use with the Dremel Versatip: 50 x blue, 50x red and 50x yellow. Pretty expensive stuff: i paid 73€ together with both pliers, the versatip and a few 100 regular cable connectors i made an investment of +- 300€ to be able to make a propper connection

Most of my connections are just soldered and have heat shrink over them.

Hi Charles
Solder and heat shrink are a good way to join wires. That is what I do.

The crimping pliers with the blue handles are the only ones that should be used to crimp pre-insulated connectors. Ronnie I have been on a mission to find a pair of those pliers for a while now. Finally found a electrical wholesaler willing to order a pair for me. Hopefully they will be here tomorrow or sometime in the week. I have a proper wire stripper like the one in Jan's pics but the crimping pliers has been a mission. Will post pics as soon as I get it. Charles
