Charles, believe me, it will be a revelation. Chances are that you will re-do your intere loom just for fun The things i ordered will last for one or 1 1/2 years. The investment is large now, but that money will come back to me eventially. In very small ammounts, but it will come back. I always order in larger ammounts. That way you can negotiate a better price. For example, when i order filters (air, oil, fuel), i always order 20 of each. When i order clutches, it's always 3 or even 4. I need those parts anyway, so i it's better for me to have them on stock.

Hi Charles
I bought mine at a normal electrical wholesaler (in SA) so they should not be difficult to find.

Hi Calla
I think Ronnie is referring to Industrial Electrical hardware stockists, like Voltex and Zebbies and not Automotive Electrics

Hi Spikes
You are correct, what you need to watch is most places will try to sell Indent crimping pliers, which are wrong for pre-insulated crimping pliers.

Charles, if you want i'll send you the url from a shop in Holland. maybe they send out to SA, i dont know. They are VERY cheap in automotive connectors. For example: i pay 5€ or so for 100 pieces what the heck, i will ask it for you. When you guys can combine orders, shipping should be affordable www.ripcaclassic.com/

Hi Spikes
Summer is just around the corner, and the wind was bitter cold this morning ;D Sounds familiar. The first thing I did to the house we bought was put in a modern combi boiler for the central heating ;D

Hi Charles,
I recently bought the same crimping pliers from a local wholesaler for about R90. So if anyone else is looking for one let me know, Ill be more than happy to send it to you as long as you pay for the postage.
Incidentally the same supplier sells the insulated connectors that you are looking for. Let me know if you are still battling to get them, and Ill get prices the next time I'm there.

Thanks Conrad. I paid R150 for those today. Oh the joys of living in the "Platteland".
I have a couple of other places in town where I can get terminals. Will go and find out when I have time. I like to buy my terminals in large quantities. My local midas now only sells them in small packets with only 10 in each. That moves up the price alot. I just buy the red and blue fully insulated female spade terminals, blue male spade terminals, blue and yellow round terminals in 6, 8 and 10mm.

got an answer: Hoi Jan ,

Hi Jan,
It was really nice to see how it should be done and with what!
Old hands like Ronnie is quite safe with solder and heat shrink, but our normal handy-men will think it is heaven to use the tools and connectors described! I am surely going to invest in those quality tools, and buy my son a set too (he is studying for an electrician currently). I actually need the tools dearly as I will shortly rewire my whole Niva when I finally finish my supercharger conversion (it took all my Niva money to pay cash for my sons studies just because we are white - strange but true - and it is still half the price of a government-funded institution).
We are really thankful for the excellent stuff from the Niva-Belgium forum, and we Boertjies understand each word with great ease! My toes also curl when I read it, because some of the words and phrases are real cute (and reminds me of my Hollands-speaking blood-brother-friend of years back).
Regards,
Fanus

Hi guys. I can get all of the insulated 'thingies' from my local Mica hardware store at reasonable prices. This is also where I got the crimping tool from. Am I just lucky living in Gauteng ? :-) Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH

Hi Guys....if you don't 'come right' with a local Mica store and can get to Johannesburg; Ellis in Johannesburg CBD sell all of the different types of crimping tools. That is where I got the one to make the connections to telephone cables when I was setting up the wireless 'stuff' at home. The crimping tool for the Niva's 'electrical stuff' has the pale blue handles and is made by RACO. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH

Hi Keith
That crimping tool in my mind is useless. They are not at all suited to crimp insulated terminals.
