Hi Jan
I have also been having trouble with my lap top but unlike you I can't fix it myself, unless it is very simple, which this time it was not. I solved the problem by treating myself to a 11.6 inch net book with windows 8. It has a 500GB hard drive 6GB ram and a 1.88 clock speed. I am quite impressed with windows 8 and find it easy to use and it needs to be for me. Battery life is brilliant. I used it nearly all day yesterday from 09.00 till the battery was down to 10% at 17.00

Ronnie does the net book have a touch screen? Windows 8 is brilliant on that.

Thanks Jan. i think this is a much better option than the normal windows recovery disk.

Hi Charles
The one I bought does not have a touch screen but the mouse is not the same and has different movements to the "old" one. Freda was not so sure of the small screen but 2 fingers on the mouse and you can increase the size. It suits me fine and is very light. I sit in the lounge all the time so no desk to lean on

those little net books are great. My daughter has a Samsung for almost 3 years now and battery life is still +- 10 hours.

Saw a group of Porsche suv's today. Looked like the new Macan. 9 in total with an Audi Q7 and 2 Synchro with EC registrations. The Porsches were matte black and 1 grey. They travelled towards Sabie. 2 or 3 persons in each.

Hi Guys, is it possible to change the sump gasket without removing the engine? Regards Rudi

Hi Rudi
I guess it should be possible but you will probably have to remove the front diff. It could be that the bolts are too tight? You can also try this if there is no apparent damage to the gasket >>
Undo as many of the bolts as you can and insert a bit of red silicone into the top of the hole. Do the whole procedure ONE BOLT AT A TIME. Re-tighten the bolt and let the silicone set /dry.

As Marius said you can but only if you remove the diff.

Yes Rudi, it is.
1. Drain oil from front diff and sump 2. Remove front diff. 3. Remove tappet cover (with tappet cover on, cant jack up motor enough to get sump out). 4. Remove nuts from Engine mountings. 5. Slacken alternator and remove fan belt 6. Remove bolts / nuts holding sump on. 7. Pry sump loose. 8. Remove bottom pulley (size 38 socket or shifting spanner) 9. Use bottle jack on bottom pulley to jack up motor as high as it can go (might need bricks under bottle jack) 10. Remove oil pump (2 bolts) (reaching inside to do so) 11. Remove sump
and away you go.
