the idea: - putting in a 19 l diesel engine cranck shaft for longer stroke - bore the block in order to fit altered Clio Willams pistons
this would give a 1970 cc engine with 11,3 /1 compression ratio. Cam shafts remain stock, valves remain stock
286° cam shafts would provide an additional 20 hp, but torque would stay the same at 1500 revs higher. The car is for normal road use, so these 286 cams are to sharp. They would give the engine a usuable power range from 5200 to 8000 revs. With stock cams is that from 3000 to 7300 revs.

Are the main bearing journals on the Diesel not also wider than that of the petrol c/shaft?

been working on my son's Clio again today. We put new Brembo discs and Ferrodo pads on it. My son is 19 years old, so of course he painted the callipers ;D

I am sitting at work waiting for the damn backlog from an accident 15km away to clear up or risk spending the next 90 minutes trying to get past the accident.
Shall I leave now or wait ...
There is allways the option of going north round Johannesburg, but I believe the N3 south is no better than the N1 south

repairing a car from one of our members, and spending a lot of money out of my own pocket doing so The car was parked at my house on the side of the road. It was there for an other repair. Some ass hole drove into it and drove away, leaving the Niva with a destroyed tail gate. It's not the owners fault off course, so i'm repairing it at my cost. This happended a few weeks ago, that's why there is some rust now A pity the tail gate was blue, so i had to paint it. Luckely i have a donor 1700 with a good rust free tailgate. The Niva owner will be happy, but i'm out of a good tail gate wich i can sell for 150€ and the paint was an other 74€. Bad luck for me, but i couldn't let the owner pay for this.

We really need a guy like you in South Africa Jan. The "professional" guys at this side of the pond seem to be quite eager to strip Ladas, instead of rebuilding them. One of the local "professionals" once told me that he usually strip Ladas like mine - because of it's "bad condition" ! But quite recently another local "professional" wanted to know why I am doing modifications to my Lada - because it is still in such good condition ! Indeed a strange world in which we find ourselves... Danie
