ordered a set of gaskets, timing belt stuff, waterpump and glow sparks for the 1.9 turbodiesel. Plan is to get it ready in the winter. Today i will design an adapter for the KKK turbo, because the outlet has to turn 90° in order to fit my exhaust.

when i build it in it will be running stock boost 0,9 bar (13 psi) with a R5 GTT turbo intercooler and a home made 2,5 inch exhaust without muffler. The less resistance in the exhaust the sooner the turbo will kick in. I will be using a steel reinforced head gasket because later it's possible that i boost it up to 18 psi and adjust the pump settings. Then it runs +- 110 hp and 240 Nm torque (stock = 90 and 200)

My Niva must go to the anual inspection today. Lots of stuff to get a faillure: lift, tyres, winch, spots and so on and so on. Lets hope for the best...

Hi Jan
We do not have annual tests here, but if we did the roads would be clear of taxi`s and all the other unroadworthy vehicles. Just think no more traffic jams.

Last saturday I worked the whole day to neaten up the garage. Packed all my tools and spares that it almost looks like a pro workshops spares department. Now tonight my mom tells me they are moving end of next month so I have to pack everything up again.

I'm having a "lekke koppie sawe lyf" (coffee) in Nababeep, my town of birth. It's good to be back in the Namakwaland. ;D

Hi Jaco Enjoy the stay.
Ons was eenkeer in Springbok en het uitgery na Nababeep. Daar was so 'n tipe Museum met 'n Loko/Enjin wat by die myn gebruik was. Hoop ek's reg met die plek, want dit was baie jare gelede.

T'nx Steve. I'm back in Paarl now. I would have liked to hook up somewhere for a beer or koffie but the "Tour de Force" is leaving me with very little time. I'm heading back to "The City" tomorrow afternoon.

Got my niva to the anual inspection again after it failed last time. It failed on the lift. I got the rings away from the springs and mounted larger springs. I also got the teflon spacers out and made some steel ones, so they won't notice it. The Niva is still as high as before and gues what: it passed! ;D

Many years ago when I went for the inspection, the man who did the inspection was a Niva owner and a crazy Niva fan!!! ;D Since then, every time (every two years) when I am going to test ...... everything is ok ....... and we talk only about conversions and mods....... ;D ;D ;D

Dimitris, yopu are very lucky. In Belgium we're not allowed to alter anything.
Today i got my Niva diesel winter-ready. New glow plugs, coolant -30°C, battery compartment isolated. Later this week i will grease all the cables: hood, hand brake, throttle
