Hi Fangsingh
I personally do not recommend using local seals. Ventz also does not recommend local with the exception of the rear crankshaft seal. I fitted 2 local to the gearbox output and both lasted approx 1 day each. A genuine bought from Ventz is still going strong.

The local seals do not have the oil thrower rings on them and do not last.

Unfortunately no crankshaft seals have been listed, because the list of "fast moving " components simply became too long - and it would be foolish to submit a list of components which could have scared Autozone off for ever. Personally, I do not think there is any reason to be concerned about the local compatible Viton Crankshaft seals, which are available at the local market (i.e Bearing Man). The Russian seals are not Viton seals, and personally, I would be very surprised if the quality of the local Viton seals would be inferior to the Russian seals. The part no. for the compatible rear (Viton) Crankshaft seal at Bearing Man is SM 709010 VF . I also got hold of a Viton front Crankshaft seal and have reported the part no. somewhere at this Forum. Unfortunately I could not find the part no. at the moment . Anyone who are not convinced about the quality of Viton oil seals, please contact a reputable oil seal suppler - to my mind and experience nothing beats the quality of a Viton oil seal. Danie

Hi Danie.
The front crankshaft seal no is SM40567VF.
The viton oil seals are superior to any other seal and we used them a lot in the hydraulic industry where high heat or high pressure is present.
Regards.

Thanks Hercules. What always concerns me, is the fact that all of us always try our best to promote the Lada at all times - and by times prefer to turn a blind eye at local compatible components, which could easily beat the quality of OEM components. By doing that, I think we are trying to reinvent the "Lada Wheel", and we will not be able to move forward . Regards Danie

And the really good news is that Primrose Autozone is within walking distance from my home. No more having to scrounge a lift from 'the wife' to get me to Centurion when the Niva is in pieces on the driveway and the one piece I need to 'fix it' is not in the, by now rather large, onboard tool/spares kit

Thanks Marius for the link. I wondered what that strap was for at the front. I use it for the 'jumper leads' that I always carry with me. As to the tool kit... I think that I am on the way to getting most of the items mentioned and I also have included a fire extinguiser.....had an 'interesting' situation in the UK with my Citroen 2 CV ! Great website....thanks and regards, Keith.

Just an update about Autozone:
The official at Autozone who I am in contact with is out of office at the moment, and will only back on Tuesday next week.
I hope to get some feedback during the next week.

Before I do pass more comments about Autozone - just a few words to the Autozone official who already has visited this thread, and who will most probably visit this thread in future again.
Thank you so much Sir - for your time and interest in supplying Lada Niva spare parts to our local Lada community. The excitement about Autozone's interest speaks for itself at this thread, and I am more than convinced that most of our Lada owners simply can't wait buying parts from Autozone !
In short, just some feedback about a telephone conversation with Autozone Head Office today:
1. Autozone is still interested in importing Lada spare parts, but the Officials still have to do some strategic planning in this regard.
2. Autozone will initially just be involved in importing certain fast moving components - to "feel" the local Lada market. Should they be satisfied about the local Lada market, they will start importing more components at a larger scale.
3. Spare parts will only be imported via sea freight.
4. Lada spare parts will probably be stocked at two , maybe three of the bigger sentra in the country - Johannesburg, Durban, and Capetown has been mentioned . From there, the parts will be distributed to their branches countrywide , on demand.
5. Autozone will let us know as soon as they have made their final decision.

The meeting by the Autozone Head Office officials regarding Lada spare part imports, has been scheduled for tomorrow.
I should be able to give some feedback by tomorrow evening. Sorry about jumping the gun slightly.

Unfortunately I am not able to give any feedback yet.
Yesterday the Autozone Head Office official who I am in contact with, informed me that he will be able to give me details about their decisions late this afternoon - so I tried to phone him just before 4.00 P.m. this afternoon. Unfortunately I could not get hold of him - I've been told that he found himself at another department at that stage.
I usually knock off at work just after 4 Pm, so unfortunately I was not able to phone him again.
To those owners who are also exited about Autozone's possible future involvement - I think we just need to be patient . The Autozone Head Office Official(s) did visit this website, and are well aware of the excitement at this Forum about their possible Lada involvement in future.
I will forward full details about Autozone's decision as soon as possible.

The Autozone Head Office official did phone me early this morning, but they are still discussing their different options.
Sorry about jumping the gun - we should get some positive feedback in the near future.

More positive news about Autozone:
Since the previous week the Autozone Head office Officials were involved in several meetings, during which they have discussed their future Lada involvement in South Africa.
Today they have sent me am e.mail, confirming that a Consultant has been appointed to assist them with all future Lada spare part imports.
At the moment they are awaiting some feedback from the Consultant regarding all parts which will be imported, and they will send me more details as soon as possible.

More (hopefully positive) news about Autozone:
I have received an e.mail from Autozone Head Office today - they have asked for a suitable day to discuss the future spare part imports by telephone.
So if tomorrow will suit them, I might have some news by tomorrow evening.
