Hi Marius, Jan has already said that he would sell me a set, but I prefer the look of my alloys (vain person that I am....image is so important :-) ). So its off to Jeppe Tyres tomorrow to see what I can get. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH Hi Keith Take a couple of painkillers and a Thermos of your favourite alcoholic beverage along when you go and do the pricing. It is a shocking experience Spikes

Hi Keith
Like you I like the Sidekick rims. 4x4 tyres have always been expensive. Try Khumo tyres, though I don`t know what treads are still available.

Hi Guys. Got myself a set of Khumo 195/15 Road Venture AT tyres from Jeppe Tyres at the 'bargain price' of ZAR5032.00! I have to say though that the difference in CERATOTH's driving is amazing. Steering is now a lot easier, road noise is much reduced and a lot of the vibrations I had previously have now gone.....and yes the previous Yokahamas were balanced. So....a good home is needed for x2 almost brand new 195/15 Yokohamas (about 1200 kms on the road) if any LOCSA Member is interested. They will cost you a couple of bottles (one for each tyre) of 'decent' SA Pinotage and you will have to risk life and limb and collect them from me here in Johannesburg :-) Give me a call on 072 993 4955 if you are interested. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH.

Hi Keith
That is alot of money for tyres. Im glad that you are offering your "old" tyres to a good home.

Keith I would rather keep those Yokohamas as spare if I were you - the 195/80R15's are becoming a real problem to get hold of and as you can see they are rather expensive.

You guys can always use rally tyres. They are 195/65R15. Here they are R150 a tire, and most of the time they are basically brand new.

Many years ago, I also looked at the ex Rally tyres. Only problem was, you could very seldom get 4 tyres in good condition let alone 4 of the same type. I was told the teams dispense of a batch when a tyre got buggered thus breaking the set.

That is great Charles. Are they all Dunlop tyres? The only negative I can think of is that your speedo will be inaccurate.

Hi. Also have 205/65/15 dunlop derenza rally tyres on mine. Thats why my lada can speedo 150 km/h. They are very tough tires. But pump them 2.2 bar and they are like fork lift tyres. Also very heavy and noisy. But 1 bar offroad i think they are great. I get them for around R200 ea. Same tread on all.

Hi guys....now you tell me about the rally tyres....after I've bought the (at a bargain price !) Khumos. I do have to say though that I am very pleased with the way they drive. The Yokohamas have now gone to a good home.....my father-in-law is going to use them on one of the farm vehicles in Tzaneen so I shall get to visit them about twice a year. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH. ps. Roons, Li (my 'better half') can get CERATOTH to do the 150kms/h with any tyres when she is driving ! Hope you Guys all have a great Easter break.

Still a lot of thread left on those tyres for normal road use....but no rally grip... Not a bad price if you think most of these tyres do only around 40km of stages and they were bought for around R1300.00 New

Hi Marius,
Do you have any idea how much it costs to ship tyres? I have been thinking of buying a set but I'm scared that the shipping will make it unfeasible

Hi Conrad
I am not sure but I think it is difficult for a private individual to import tyres into SA.

Ronnie I think he meant to ship the tyres within SA. If he buys a set to get it down to Durban.

Hi Conrad
The best way to check this is to contact your nearest courier. Each tyre weighs 11kgs. Shipping will be from Ventersdorp NWP to Durban I presume.

Pleasure. Let me know what the figures are. Normal retail on these tyres are something between R1400-R1500 - that is if you can get it.

Hi all
We now have 14 Nankangs left. What I will do shortly is to assess the need for a new batch.
Marius
PS - one more Nankang was discovered so there are 15 left.
