They were very good costumers indeed. One car came from East Coast Radio in Durban, another one from Belgian Embassy in Pretoria. Their details are easily to find if still interested.

Hi Guys
The postal rates below (for airmail parcel with tracking) may be useful to anyone thinking of importing goods from Russia to SA.
0.1 – 0.25 kg = 7.55 USD 0.25 – 0.5 kg = 12.50 USD 0.5 – 1.0 kg = 19.95 USD 1.1 – 2.0 kg = 31.75 USD 2,1 - 3,0 kg = 57,80 USD 3,1 - 4,0 kg = 69,23 USD 4,1 - 5,0 kg = 80,62 USD 5,1 - 6,0 kg = 92,09 USD 6,1 - 7,0 kg = 103,51 USD 7,1 - 8,0 kg = 114,90 USD 8,1 - 9,0 kg = 126,33 USD 9,1 - 10,0 kg = 137,75 USD
I have already advised earlier in this thread that import duty and VAT totalling 36% are payable on the value of the goods but forget to mention that a R25.00 clearance fee is also payable.
It would also be wise to advise the supplier not to mention anything on the invoice or parcel that could be mistaken for clothing, viz. boots, shoes, slippers, etc., which carries extremely high import duty and your parcel could be taxed as such. This has happened to me and it was quite a mission to claim it back!

Another option is western union similar payment options. They do however need to collect the cash in person.

I couldn't wait for Autozone any longer, so I have ordered parts from Pavel -and has made a money transfer this evening.
So far his service has been quite impressive, and the parts will on it's way on 4th August.
Will now have to wait and see how long it takes for the parcel to arrive...

Hi Charles
On a previous import (from Graf Korvet) a courier has delivered my parcel at my work address - 18 days after shipment.
I have now used my work address again, and I am not sure whether the Post Office will be involved or not.

Pavel has sent me the parcel Tracking number at 12H52 by e.mail today - 18 hours 52 minutes since I have made the money transfer.
Not bad at all - bear in mind that there was a full night (non working hours )between the time of payment, and time of his e.mail.

Hi Pavel I am quite sure that you do visit this website, but I will send you an e.mail as well. Today at 12H25 I couldn't believe my eyes when my parcel has been delivered at my work address ! I still do not know how you managed to achieve this, but a nine day delivery surely must be some sort of a record . ;D ;D ;D Thanks for your excellent service man - I did find it very difficult to stop smiling since I received the parcel - all components are exactly as ordered ! Everything has been packed properly - and the parcel was so neat, our Customs did not even bother to open the parcel . ;D ;D. If you also find it difficult to believe that the parcel has arrived - these are some pics: Fifth Gear, Fifth pinion Gear, Diff Satellite Gears, etc : Ball Joints, Rubber Flex Coupler, Diff Bearings: Gaskets: Thanks again man - your prices and standard of service are fantastic ! Regards Danie. P.S. Thanks for telling us about Pavel Charles, this man's prices and service are freaking brilliant !!

Danie how much was the postage? I take it he did not send it by normal post.
This is putting a huge smile on my face. Seeing people getting parts fast and cheaply.
I cant wait untill I have some more money to order parts from him.

Hi Charles
Yes, the parcel has been sent by Express Mail - it's slightly more expensive than normal post via Air Mail.
The total Transport Cost was just over US$100 (7.95kg parcel) - obviously a bit expensive - but bear in mind that the total cost on this import (all parts, transport costs, + Taxes) is way, way less than what I would have paid for the two Gears (as seen on the first pic) in South Africa !
I think I will still be smiling for the rest of the week . ;D ;D ;D

Hi Danie Easy, simple and cheap! I presume these are spare parts - or are they replacement parts for broken bits? How much did you pay for the ball joint? Marius PS - I did ask you some questions in the Gearbox thread.

Hey guyskis!
I also got my new carb and a full timing chain/gear set today. So flippen excited to get them on the RPG. Sorry I've been so quiet but I've been snowed in with work.
With this kind of service and price, I can actually spend a bit with Pavel every month until RPG is completely sorted.
THIS IS AWESOME.

Hi Danie I presume these are spare parts - or are they replacement parts for broken bits? How much did you pay for the ball joint? Marius PS - I did ask you some questions in the Gearbox thread. Hi Marius Most of the parts will be used to rebuild my spare Gearbox, and spare front Diff to be in a 100% condition. These spare units are just lying around, and are just absorbing space in my garage. I thought it might be better to get everything rebuilt properly. At the moment I am quite fortunate - because the extra Gearbox will get rebuilt free of charge by a specialist - therefore I have ordered the Gearbox components. As indicated, Pavel's price is $20.00 per unit on the Ball joints. Sorry about missing your question at the other thread - as indicated before, I started missing more and more comments at the forum ........... .............will have a look there. Danie

I think it is time to add our Ukrainian friend to the official list of spare part suppliers. Perhaps we should wait until his website is up and running?

Just a comment about the Lemforder Ball joints which came from Pavel:
The Ball Joint rubbers feel quite "solid", and not as "thin" as the rubbers on the original Lada Ball Joints.
I could obviously be wrong, but I have a feeling that the quality of the Lemforder Ball Joints could be better than the quality of the the original ones.

I have decided rather to make use of Express (Air)mail on all my future spare part imports. Costs are a bit higher, but I think apart from being faster, Express Mail is also safer than ordinary Airmail. At work we do make use of companies who specialize in "Express Mail" services, and these companies are highly competitive. I also think "Express Mail" could prevent "incompetent nosy fingers fiddling with parcels", which could make imports more complicated. On all my previous private imports I have always used my work's Company name and address as delivery address of the parcels. I could be wrong, but I believe this also might help to "motivate" the Express Mail Companies to speed up their deliveries. Maybe the Express Mail Companies might not be so quick to deliver a parcel to "Piet Pompies at Tarentaal Street 999,999" - I don't know . Danie
