Nice pics Ronnie.
There is also a very informative article with lots of advice in the latest (August) edition of Leisure Wheels, regarding trips to Zimbabwe.
I think anyone who are thinking of joining the trip should find that article very helpful. According to the advice it might be better to avoid Beitbridge, and to take an alternative route.
Anyway, Zim should be very interesting.
Regards
Danie

Hi Comrade Marius Thanks for the compliment . I have never had the Landy on a weigh bridge but by my calculations it would turn the scales at just over 3 tons. I did redo the coil springs with coil inside coil at the rear and high capacity pick up on the front. Very effective. I will dig up more photos over time Ronnie

Hi Danie Yes I have read the August mag and it makes for interesting reading. That is the road that Marius mentioned some time ago,and the one I intend using for Matusadona National Park . I have only been as far as Binga and thee road is tared to there. I will do every thing possible to avoid Beit Bridge. I like the idea of entering Moz from Zim and returning home that way. Possible route to follow later (much later) ;D Ronnie

Hi Ronnie and Spikes. You click on the file attachment and it say start download in 5 seconds. When it stop at 0 seconds, read further and it say "if file do not open, click here to open". Click the blue "here" and it will say save. Then save in a document on the computer. Easy. ;D Regards. Hercules.

I don't know why Ari post his files without ext?
The first one is an Excel file - just rename with ".xls" at the end. The other one is a PDF - just rename with.pdf at the end.
Sample "Ari'sStupidFileThatWeCan'tOpen.xls" ;D

Hi Ari Thanks for making the effort to design a route . What I will say is not criticism but what you will also find when you start these trips. You cannot change you destination every day, and drive another 500 kms to a new place, you will return home in need of a holiday. Also watch border crossings. (a) 8 vehicles can take 5 hours. (b) Watch double entries into countries as you MAY pay the fees all over again, Botswana is cheaper on the 2nd entry. I don`t know what type of roads you are driving on but it is not unusual to only average 30 km/hr when you leave the black top. The road I want to use in the next Zim route is featured in the August SA4x4 mag (Danie has already commented on it) it is just over 400 km`s and it is a HARD 2 days drive and this is the only road if you want to go to Matusadona Nat Park. Looking forward to your next route. Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
What I tried to do is to find an interesting way into Zambia, that excludes Beitbridge and Botswana due to the cost I realise its far for everyday but the 2 weeks is the limiting factor.

Hi Ari
I have in the meantime dismissed Zambia as the border crossing fees are very expensive. It is only the game reserves in Botswana which are expensive petrol is cheap so is meat when you can find T bones and fillet. Other food stuffs are a bit more expensive than here. I also think it will be a good experience for all to travel so far on the salt pans, and experience the solitude of Kubu Island. It is a popular route for the safari types. Any way I am looking forward to you next route.
