Kobus, I thought it might be a good idea to allow contact details of fellow Lada owners - who already proved to be active forum members, and offered technical assistance, under this topic.
Your guidance / conditions (if approved) will be appreciated.

Welcome back Sakkie, can you please tell me what type of electric window mechanism you got installed in your Lada. I'm fairly fed-up with the window winders in my Lada. The driver window got Jan's mod in, but the mechanisms you get is of a poor quality and stripped after a year.
regards.

Hercules, The electric window winder was a kit I bougth. Autostyle sells it. www.autostyle.co.za/product/1860/ElectricWindowKit/Don't know if it will solve your problem as these kits use the old mechanism. You only remove the window winder handel and the motor fits over the mechanism. I hate looking at things after some time, the price is almost half of what I payed for mine.

Hi all
I have used Autostylin electric window winders for years. Ari"s Lada was the first probably about 1997. If the existing mechanism is defective the electric winder will not work. It simply drives the existing with a gear in place of the handle . The defender I had was fitted in 1998 and still works fine. I am sure Ari can report back if his still works.

Ronnie

Hi Hercules.
I have just installed speakers in the doors and found the same as you. The passenger winder is origional and works fine. The drivers is modified (by Jan ?) and I agree it is of poor quality and will not last long. Does any one know what winder fits best ? Rather change now than wait for it to break.
Regards Ronnie

Ronnie, the winder that is been used is the Toyota Venture 1800 winder. The problem is, the aftermarket winders sold by spare shops are of poor quality and stripped the gears very easy. I think to install a genuine Toyota winder, maybe it will last. Hope so.
Regards.

Hercules, I will have a look down here in the backwaters of Pennington, no doubt will need to head to Durban. Autostylin have a branch in Durban and Jhb. A 2 door electric window kit is R595, and I do recomend the kit.

Hoop jy kom gou reg.
Groete
Danie

Indien jy lekkende water aan die agterkant van die blok met jou hand kan voel, behoort dit definitief n gasket probleem te wees. Omdat die welsh plug deur die bellhousing bedek word, sal n lek by die welsh plug nie met die hand waargeneem kan word nie;
Groete,
Danie

Hi Andy We've got 11 official languages in our country, so things could get quite complicated on this side of the pond ! ;D Not a real problem though - most citizens do understand English or Afrikaans. Regards Danie

Hi Andy
Use google translate or yahoo babelfish to tanslate the Afrikaans to English.
Not all South Africans speak and understand English, although about 85% of people speak English or Afrikaans or both.
