Just a tip when buying proper 0 gauge wire. Go to a scrap yard and buy the battery cable from a merc or bmw with the battery in the boot. You can buy a 3m piece for less than 1m from a spares shop.

Hi Conrad
You are completely correct. All batteries should be the identical. If you put a battery in the back make sure the cables are really big to counter the voltage drop. I use a c tec charger and recommend them. If you have a vehicle you do not use often you can leave it on charge 365 days a year, and you DO NOT need to disconnect the battery to charge it.

Hi Conrad
I had 4 batteries of roughly 40 amp capacity off 1 alternator and 3 batteries off the other alternator. The alternator with 3 batteries still had the National Luna split charge in circuit from the original set up with 2 x 65amp batteries as the main ones and a 110 amp one on the split charge. The split charge was not required but I left it there as it had been working for many years. If I still had the vehicle when the batteries were needing replaced I would have changed it to 1 alternator with 1x 110amp battery and 1 alternator with 2 x 110 amp ones. Hope this makes sense. The big drawback is the cost of the batteries which is horrific.

Hi Charles
The solenoid was part of the National Luna system. When you start the vehicle the unit looks for 13.8 volts, then times out for 2 minutes before closing the solenoid to connect the 2nd battery. The unit controller has an over ride switch to keep both batteries connected for winching.

Hi Bobbyd The standard wiring circuit of Niva 1600..... 42 A alternator AfterAs you can see........ 1. the voltage regulator and the lamp relay no longer need. 2.the white\black wire which connected the warning lamp to the chassis (-) now must be connect to (+). The nearest point to connect is with the amber wire of the oil pressure gauge. Regards Dimitris

Yeah for sure, its a 70 amp bosch alt of a localy made car (Ford falcon) so it is very very common and cheap, internal regulator, brushless and the same mounts as the Lada alt.

I nearly took the option of an alt of a toyota hilux surf, they are smaller and the same output but these vehicles are quite rare here, plenty of hiluxs but not too many of the surf models which have an incredable amount of eletronics in.
Photos soon

Here we are. This alt has three points on it. A large male thread marked B+ A male spade marked d+ And the two smaller male spades on the black box Attachments:

Evidently B+ is output/battery. d+ is warning light. I dont know what the other two are.
Writeing on the alt is 9 120 060 005 K1-14v 17/70A 87DA 10300BA

I have found out one of the small spades is S and one is L. S goes to the batt + (battery sense) L goes to lamp, ign then +ve.
