According to a local spare part shop Ferodo front wheel discs are not available in South Africa - they do sell Ferodo front wheel disc pads for Ladas though. Does anyone know whether Ferodo discs are indeed available in South Africa Danie

Just to let everyone know :
Ferodo do not make Discs for Ladas - today I phoned Ferodo to get an answer regarding this issue. I have been referred to somebody who would be able to clear this issue.
The answer was " We do manufacture disc pads, but no - we do not manufacture discs. "

Hi Spikes
Some one posted that page a few weeks ago as i printed one out at the time. If you look at the coding of the item it tells you it is a live part.

Hi all Update on the front discs/rotors for Lada Nivas Although neither Autozone or Midas in White River or Nelspruit have the items in stock, they can order. 2 days max delivery time. Autozone quoted R400 before VAT and Midas R470 incl. And yes both confirmed that the Ferodo part no DDF092 is correct. Regards Spikes

Hi All
I am a little confused, are we talking about disc pads or the disks. Mike your part numbers are for pads which I don`t think have ever been a problem. The disc`s are part number DDF092 and according to the catalog should be available.

Hi Ronnie , (very much tongue in cheek) "A review" Huge confusion!! A disc=a round plate shaped object. A disc pad=the part that is acted on by the {brake} piston(s) situated in the [brake] caliper, clamps the disc and retards progress/movement of the wheels (also round steel or alloy shaped discs(round objects)) on which the tyres {Pitbulls, Khumo or whatever takes the owners fancy} are fitted. Too many round objects around the brakes!! Happiness was when ox wagons were braked by dragging a tree stump behind the wagon Regards Spikes

Hi Spikes
It would be very helpful if the guys at Midas and Autozone could verify their source of information, because according to a second official at the Ferodo Head office, their information is incorrect.
Today I have been in contact with Mr. Calvyn Wessels - an official at the Ferodo Head office in Johannesburg. Mr. Wessels confirmed the following:
1. To this day Ferodo has never supplied a single Lada front Disc (Part No. DDF 092) to any of their agents (including Autozone and Midas), because they (Ferodo) have never carried any stock of these components before.
2 .Ferodo definitely did not start manufacturing these components during this year.
3. The only reason why the Lada discs are listed at the Ferodo catalog, is because they do have a supplier abroad, who would be able to supply discs, should Ferodo place an order.
4. Due to a lack of demand, Ferodo has never imported any Lada front discs before.
5. Ferodo is indeed involved in supplying Lada disc pads (Part No FDB 195) to their agents countrywide.
On a more positive note, Mr Wessels undertook the following:
1. To find out exactly how many Ladas have been imported to South Africa. Ferodo do have access to a computer program where the exact numbers can be found.
2. To look at the feasibility of importing Lada discs (Part No. DDF 092) to South Africa in future.
3. Should Ferodo decide to start importing discs in future, owners will be able to buy discs from Ferodo's agents countrywide (like Midas and Autozone I guess) . Ferodo does not sell spare parts directly to the public.
Mr Wessels took my e.mail address and cell no., and undertook to reply as soon as possible.
Regards
Danie

Hi Charles
If the pads are not too hard the disks should last a life time. I believe the Russian pads are best in this respect.
