Hi Warren Welcome on board - good to have another KZN member here. If your friend is not a member yet, hopefully he will be joining as well. Do you perhaps know how many Ladas are still up an running in the PMB area ? Regards Danie

I've seen about 4 different lada niva's driving around Pmb. All in relatively good condition.

Hi Warren
I am sure you are seeing the tip of the iceberg as there is 1000`s in the country. They must be hiding somewhere. Pennington is very small and there is 2 here that I know of.

Well, there is quite a number of Ladas in the Durban area as well - I guess most owners have found a good mechanic in this area, maybe they are all happy and thats why they don't register at the Forum. Regards Danie

I've actually got a pair of original Lada rims and tyres. Driving with them on at the moment. They are a bit more noisy, but they lift the car 50mm, compared to the mags with rally tyres. The originals are a bit thin though.
I was out 4x4ing behind Oribi airport here in Pmb and was trying a big hill climb. Got right to the top and the tyres cut through the dirt like chainsaws. Left a nice big hole at the top of the hill. But, I tried some crossovers and I was so proud of my lada(Still gotta name it...). I'll upload some pics monday when i get them. It was a great weekend for me.

That wheel was really high of the ground. I must just say I managed to get through with a little help from a friend standing on the bumnber. (I'm new at this 4x4ing business, didn't wanna take a chance) ;D Attachments:

Hi
Thats a nice twister!I wonder what 50mm longer springs and longer shocks will perform like? I once had an Suz sj410 with sissor shackles and longer shocks it liked twisters! Id like to see mods that can improve the Lada's already exellent movement! (articulation)
Regards
Duane

I'm thinking of lifting the suspension on my lada. The lada niva baxter website shows an easy 50mm lift. I'm a tool and dye maker apprentise, so the mods will be easy to make for myself.
Has anyone lifted there suspension on there lada? Are there any set backs to lifting the suspension? Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Warren
There seem to be more than one local lift in the pipeline - my own kit still needs to be installed, and Ari also indicated that his Lada will get a lift in the near future.
According to more info elsewhere on the web, any lift lower than 50 mm shouldn't be a problem.
Please keep us posted about your lift.
Regards
Danie

If i may ask, where did you get your lift kit and how much did it cost?

Hi Ari.
Thanks for the link. That kit looks really good. I have access to a full toolroom with a lathe, milling machine and CNC mill. I think i should get started on the kit straight away.
Cheers Warren
