Hi Gav I know that Ari's Lada had one that was built by Ronnie some years back but as far as I know Ari is not using it anymore. There was some pics of it on this forum so maybe Ari can help you out? Marius

Hi Gav Here is another pic I have found. If you zoom in you MAY be able to seethe way I hinged it. This was in the mid 90`s and now I would need to delve through the attic to find more pics and after moving them 10000kms it will be a mission. You need to try and position the wheel so it does not block your rear view. Ronnie Attachments:

Hi Gav
Ari has the carrier off at the moment BUT I think it is at his place of work. With our long weekend he will probably only get back late tomorrow

Gav, You could have a look at the carrier that was fitted to the Mk.1 Kia Sportage. I always thought it would work on a 1.7 Niva. Regards, John.

I would be scared of rust with a kia carrier as it would stress the metal badly.

Hi Gav
I did not have any problem with it rattling but I think Ari did. By that time it was about 13 years old. I used a bonnet lock from I think a Ford to lock it in the closed position and this worked fine for a very long time.

Just not that catch is not Ronnie's original as that one used a bonnet catch against the rear door.

Hi guys. I am in the process of installing a Toyota 4y engine into my Lada. (Updates on that as soon as it is finished.) But the problem I am going to have is, I will need to make a spare wheel carrier. I am just afraid that the Sidekick bumper won't be able to take the weight. I will appreciate all your ideas and help.
Thanks Riaan

Hi Riaan
You will find most a lot of your questions answered here. "dgc" mounted his spare on the bonnet. You will find that detail in the thread about his conversion. On that point, I would fit a backing plate inside the bonnet.
