Just another tip:
The old welsh plugs needs to be drived out by a screwdriver or flat punch at the left, or right side of each plug (one side only) - until it hits the cylinder inside the engine block. Then you will be able to lever it more sideways with a flat screwdriver at the opposite end.
Do not try to drive the plugs out by driving it at the top, or bottom of the plugs . The cylinder sleeves are quite close to the plugs, and should you drive the plugs inwards at the bottom or top, it will hit the cylinder sleeve too soon - because of the curve. You will then battle to lever the opposite end sideways with a screwdriver.

Hi Danie I did this test now. Inserted dipstick and let drop freely into the dipstick pipe. It stopped with about 1.5cm t0 2cm clearance between the top of the dipstick pipe and the bottom of the rubber shroud below the finger hold on the dipstick. Then there is very slight resistance to slide the dstick down and home. Regards Spikes Hi Danie and Dheer This is where the dipstick on my NIVA meets its first resistance From there you can feel slight resistance as you push it down Regards Spikes Attachments:

Hi Guys....if this is of any use, CERATOTH's (1.7 Carb 2000 model) dipstick does exactly the same as Spike's. Regards to all at LOCSA, Keith and CERATOTH

Hi Spikes My Lada's Dipstick is slightly curved, and I guess your Lada's Dipstick is dead straight ? A curved Dipstick will obviously slides down easier than a straight one. Maybe my dipstick has been modified - I am not sure: Danie

My dipstick is strait and has no resistence. Sounds like I'm missing a few parts then. . . .

I guess Ventz or some or other clever guy has bent the dipstick to make it more "user friendly" - and now my Lada is not "original" according to some standards any longer . Danie

Gentlemen, thanks for all the wishes! It's now the 23rd, I only came across this today, 11 days later. Anyways, still got to get use to this new interface. Like everything else, I'll slowly get there ;D As for my Niva, I am proud to say that she is running well! Has been for the last month. My daughter uses the Niva as a daily runner! Thank you guys, for all the help that you have given me in putting my Lada together. Hi Dheer, I will move this post and the previous two, to you original "Need help in putting her together" post Spikes
