Hi Guys
Got my first Lada about a week ago...and can say that I'm more than impressed with the car. Still have to try and tackle some real 4x4 driving. Only complaint so far might be the speed or lack there off, although must admit I didn't buy with intentions of racing it around town.
Its a mint condition 2001 Sidekick 1.7 carb with around 55 000km on the clock
The forum is great...so much info so little time

Welcome! I see you have a Golf Rally car if you need a speed rush. But bet you 100:1 that the NIVA will take you places where none of the other two can dream of going Enjoy! Spikes

Hi Kick01
Welcome to the forum !
With such low mileage on your Lada, you must be driving the "newest"Lada at the forum . ;D
Just some advice - if I were you, I would change the Gearbox, Transfer Box, and Diff oils immediately. Don't be too comfortable about the low mileage on the car - most owners have never used the correct oils on these cars.....

Hi All
Thanks for the warm welcome....will try and take some pics over the weekend (will make sure it's more than one)
Thanks for the advice Danie....the engine oil still looks quite new but the air filter hasn't been changed in years so if they didn't give the filter any attention I doubt that they gave any attention to the diffs and gearbox. I've read the oil discussion on the forum but I'm still not certain on which oils go where and then there's the GL4 / GL5 issue as well, will see if I can read through it again and maybe do the oils over the weekend.
@ ladanivabelgium - Good luck with the hangover mate

Hi
The Niva is should only get gl5 oil. 85w140 gl5 for the diffs and transfercase. then 80w90 gl5 for the gearbox. Castrol makes good oils that are not too expensive. Please just make sure that it is gl5.
Charles

Anything else will generally decrease the life of components (especially the front diff) Other than that I love my Niva too. regards Vincent

Hi Charles
Unfortunately the scuff plates are vinyl so not sure how long they will last...But you will be looking at around R50.00 for both sides excl postage. I can send you the file as well, and you can then just take it to your local sign shop and they'll probably charge you around R50 as well.

Ok I know this isn't Lada related...but as the thread says "Introduce yourself" I though I'd share my other passion with the members... You says you need a 4x4 to to get through that mud hole Attachments:
