You should maybe print out the main one for your lada and keep it in the lada.

Hi All A job worth while is a job worth doing . I installed the relays with terminals until I was happy they were working as I wanted. The picture is the finished article with plug in bases to make it easy to change a faulty relay. I had to order the bases as the local suppliers had none. They tell me no one asks for them. Ronnie

Hi All If you are fitting an Air con or Supercharger and need to fit an electric petrol pump and want to install it behind the front wing here is the route to get the pipe work into the wing. Ronnie Attachments:

Hi All. Just to show you how important it is to shop around when you want something. I needed the thermostat for the air con and the price from the A/C installer I was going to use as he can make hoses was R336.30. I thought this was expensive so after looking through yellow pages it cost R80.08 . Today I tried to organize 2 flexible pipes. Prices for 2 are about R2500 total rip off!. Went to a scrap yard in Margate got 2 for R200 . One of these Fitted just fine and the other I need to have altered. At least now as I only have one to alter and even if it costs a bit the A/C will then be ready for gassing. Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
Your Lada will probably be the only one left in SA , with an aircon in working condition!
With all the mods on your Lada in mind, I think it will be hard to find another Lada in this country which match yours !
Regards.

Hi Hercules
If you had as much spare time as me you could also do all the mods. In fact I am always looking for something new to do to keep me busy. When the A/C is finished it is back to the vibration.

Hi All At long last the air con is working. Fitted the thermostat switch then took it for gassing. There was one bad leak from the dryer/ filter unit, which only required new "O" rings. The guy there was not happy with one fan running with the compressor and wanted both to run. When I switched on the 2nd fan the difference it made to the pressure was surprising. When I got home not wanting to run both fans with the compressor I refitted the mechanical one. Were there any problems------Yes. I only got home when it stopped working. I used a spare fuse in the existing fuse box and the plastic of the fuse melted and the contacts were warm enough to burn your hand. I have fitted an in-line fuse, so we will see tomorrow if it helps. Danie, I don`t know what would happen if you had the supercharger switchable as the revs drop is very high at tick over when you switch on the A/C. IT drops from 850 to 400rpm. I will need to get an idle up solenoid at the scrap yard to correct it. In the meantime I will fit a micro switch to cut out the compressor at idle. As a matter of interest the compressor clutch and inside fan use 12.5 amp and one cooling fan uses 8 amps. The unit is very effective, with the outside temp at 28, the air from the evaporator was 4.5 deg. All very worth while Ronnie Attachments:

Danie, I don`t know what would happen if you had the supercharger switchable as the revs drop is very high at tick over when you switch on the A/C. IT drops from 850 to 400rpm. Hi Ronnie When the owner showed me how the Supercharger works, I did not notice any difference in engine RPMs, when the Supercharger has been switched on (or off). The Supercharger obviously draws more power from the engine when switched "on" - but I think the extra engine power which is created when the Supercharger gets switched "on" , compensates more than enough for the loss of engine power, drawn by the Supercharger. Anyway, congratulations on your latest mod ! I am sure you will be able to sort all teething problems ! Maybe Ventz will be able to give some advice as well....... Regards Danie.

Hi Ronnie,
If your Lada was fuel injection, you wont need all these extra accessories. The computer compensate the low idling revolution. Also it is not necessary to fit another electrical fuel pump. These pumps despite their good quality - mainly they are made in Germany or USA, are troublesome due to the heat under the bonnet. Just I wish to remind the old advice - stay away from aircon in Lada - but carburetor Lada; untill now almost no complains for aircons fitted to fuel injection Lada. Owners with 1.7i can enjoy the Siberian temperaure inside.... Joke of course - our aircons can't reach -40 degrees... thankfuly.
