Hi Dewald. When it gets hot it will push into the bottle. Please measure the length of your cap. I think it might be too short and now it is pushing water into the bottle and not only when hot.

It shouldn't do that with an original cap unless there is something wrong with the rubber seals.
Did you manage to get only 3 liters in after you drained the system completely? If that is the case you have far too little coolant in the system. You should at least get about 7 liters of coolant back into the system.

Hi Ruan not as an after market item. Ventz, Jan in Centurion, Chris Swales or Mike may be able to supply

Hi Ruan
Before you order a cowl you must be 100% sure that you do have the original water pump fitted otherwise it might be a struggle to fit the cowling.
If you do have an original pump you must also make sure that you order the cowling complete with the bracket and the nut.

Can it work with no cowling? If i make a spacer and move the fan closer to the radiator? I realy dont want to put electric fans in my carb niva. Dont think it has original water pump. Where can i get some dynamite?

Hi Ruan,
I have an original waterpump/radiator/thermostat and fan with its cowling. This combo works fine around town, but not off road.
I have found that without fail the car wants to overheat when driving in low range for any period of time.Because of this I have also fitted an electric fan next to the mechanical one. I now just switch this on every time I engage low range.
The R150.00 I spent fitting the fan is much cheaper than a top end rebuild because of blown head gasket.

Hi Ruan
The cooling system will be very inefficient without the cowl. Moving the fan closer will do little good as the air will take the path of least resistance, which will be from the side and not through the radiator core. When I used the Niva in the bush in very high temperatures with air con running and 1 electric fan which only worked with the air con compressor I had no overheating even in low range and driving non stop for up to 5 hours. I think the cooling system is probably marginal but if it is maintained properly it should be fine. The Niva I am talking about now belongs to Ari, which I bought new and I don,t remember Ari ever complaining about overheating.

Air may be trapped in the heater pipes Ari This can happen if you did not open the heater all the way when you refilled the system. Marius

Should not really matter Danie, the expansion tank is not pressurised as far as I know. Its just a reservoir for the water to move up and down in, as the presure in the radiator gets too high or too low. Ari

No I dont really have overheating issues, but I keep an eye on the gauge and as soon as the needle is vertical I put the electric fan on. Here are the part no for the fan cowl parts: 21213-1309080 1 Bracket Support 21213-1309011 1 Fan cowl 21213-1309014 1 Fan cowl 2121-1309070 2 Seal The seals come already attached to the cowl.

Ruan what do you do for a living?
is that to add another pipe from the front to rear?
Hopefully you will not use his South African "thermostat" mod.

So you add a bypass to the heater inlet from the head? where do you feed the that water back into the system?
