My Lada is for sale - Yes the Rustovich is needing another home. Now for all the other members of LOCSA - No I am not leaving LOCSA, but I have bought the legendary Ronster's Monster After the 1600 and the cold shoulder and hot tongue that I suffered as a result, I was given an ultimatum - Sell the other Lada's before you bring another car on to the property. The 1600 has duly found a new home with a legendary LOCSA member and I will leave it to him to document the development around that. OK about the Rusti She is a 2000 1700 standard Niva with 93000 km on the clock. I use the Rusti daily and do a fair mileage in it. Apart from dirty fuel, it is now reliable. The interior is neat and all electrics work. I will supply new tail gate struts. You will not have a Ratel or Ronnie to hold it open for you. The exterior is however not perfect and is the area that could do with a respray. The Rusti is well documented on the forum, and it would be my intention that the person acquiring Rusti, would remain a member of LOCSA too All offers will be considered. Hi Vincent! Nearly choked on my coffee for a moment! ;D Congrats on your latest purchase - probably one of the best Ladas in SA to buy - all thanks to The Ronster In fact I was contemplating doing that myself, but I will have to put my dream of a second Niva aside for a while I do hope you find a good buyer for Rusti. Hi Vincent
Congrats on Ronnie's Lada !
I guess it has not been easy for Ronnie to let it go - so in a way this is quite sad.
Anyway, enjoy that great Lada !

Regards Danie Hi Danie It is VERY sad for me as Ronnie has in such a short time become a very good friend of mine. I am however very fortunate that my business involves international travel and I can see myself having to route through the UK on occasion to visit Ronnie and Freda. Having said that, they are still here and I visit as often as I can. (Ronnie makes a very good cup of coffee ;D ;D ;D ;D) Regards Vincent

Hi Vincent I think you are making a big mistake by trying to sell Rusty now ! All you need to do is to slap a set of Portals on Rusty, as well as lots of nice looking stickers to promote your business and oils! Can you imagine how much oil you are going to sell - and at the same time you will sommer put the Lada back on the map in South Africa again ! ;D Danie..........

Err Danie There is NOOOOOOO WAAAAY I get that past my wife I will still use my Lada as a daily driver. I enjoy the smiles this little car brings to most peoples faces. Is it not funny that the only people that dont smile are the ones who spent R500k+ on a 4x4 that the Lada will just walk over - AND they know it ;D Regards Vincent

Hi Vincent/Ronnie, Damn, bit my tongue twice in one thread doing a bit of biltong when I read that you are selling your Niva and that Ronnie is relocating to the land of the Kakies! Ronnie, sad but true, I will also relocate to GB tomorrow if I can, and I am sure it is not for the same reasons as you do. I wish you and Freda all of the best there. It is a beautiful country and people like you who have time and consideration for others will easily settle in. If you come to visit in future my Lada will be available for you to use to travel wherever you want to go in SSA (you will then have the privilege to brag in GB that you have driven the meanest supercharged Lada on the African continent and it did not even break down once)!! Regards, Fanus

Hi Fanus
Thanks for the offer of the use of your Niva. My reasons for returning to the UK after living in SA for close to forty years is purely financial. Even with a medical aid it costs you an arm and a leg to be in hospital here, and we are not getting any younger. Time to take advantage of the contributions we have been paying to the UK National insurance scheme for many years. I can also indulge in my other passion of classic cars. I have got my sights set on a +- 1968 MGB GT.

Ronnie will also have the use of the Ronster's Monster as I know he LOVES the aircon he had fitted ;D Have you had your Lada on a Dyno yet? Regards Vincent

Hi Mike, I think we should get your Niva in one of these OEM ass creeper 4 x 4 magazines after you fitted two diff locks or Torsens. Awesome way to make arses of million of rands worth of 4 x 4's and being a legend in SA during a stuck-up shoot out! Regards, Fanus

Hi Vincent, No the Niva has still to wait patiently for the tuner to fit me in - he finally finished the Porshe, including the dyno testing/adjustment (six additional injectors) and the Viper (twin-turbo's installed where it can not be done). Now the (overhauled) gearbox of the Porsche makes terible noises, and must come out - at least two weeks extra again for the gearbox pro to fix his buggerup. At least the tuner is working on the other cars that were in the cue before mine. One simply do not experiment with tuners I do not want to be practiced on, so I stick with the guy that proved he does things only right. In the meantime I also decided to fit standard Niva multipoint fuel injection, together with the supercharger) and is awaiting the parts from Pavel. Can not wait! I even asked him to buy some Ukrainian art for my wife and include it in the parcel (see the attached). If all is well with the Niva, the wife and the weather, what more do you want! Regards, Fanus Attachments:

Hi Ronnie, Yes, I agree with your planning for the future - the level of health-care and safety is going to be the major issue to get skilled people back to SA when another sensible government takes over one day. One can only tax people so much without delivering, then even the (potential) productive people head somewhere else (including educated blacks : . I am very glad you could invest in an alternative over the years. You must please send us photos of your MG once you started to rebuild it. I remember when I was still young how I dreamed of owning and driving an MG one day (It was actually the only two seater open top sports car with the correct/balanced dimensions I could recall - I do not like big open top sports cars - there is no magic in it). An open top Mustang is like an elephant without the ears - an MG is like a Cheetah at speed - two different worlds). The nicest car (except my Niva) I ever owned was my 1275E Mini - one of the very last sold here. That included Mercs, Alfa's, American V8's Japanese and other German cars. Why!? I do not know. It may be because the English cars reflected the (brave)souls of its designers - the other just the engineering or artistic skills of the designers (this is also how I view a Niva - it is more than just the sum of the parts, it has that almost human like appeal - a character/personality). Gee - where am I going! Regards, Fanus

Hi Fanus
Yes, fortunately for me I have an alternative place to go. As far as cars go I was brought up with cars from the 50`s and 60`s. In those days the British cars were worth while having. I drove them all, and they ranged from 100e ford prefects through mark 1 3.4 jags, 1275 cc cooper S, jag XK130, sunbeam Rapier, Triumph Spitfire, 3 ltr Rover, ford Zodiac, Austin Westminster, and I could go on and on. All these vehicles were like the Lada, and had battery, brakes a motor and little else, but were fun to drive on the UK`s unrestricted roads, driving them as fast as they would go. I will post photo`s of the MG when the time comes.
Ronnie
