Hi all, As a new Lada owner i have been having some rotten luck so anyone that can help it will be appreciated. I have had my Lada for just over a month now and within the first week i had to do the head gasket, then the starter decided it didn't want to play along and start properly, but its hanging in there for now. The carb gave me problems but after taking it off and putting it back on about 5 times a can of carb cleaner did help plenty Now my waterpump is dying a fast death rather than a slow one. It is still working but sounds like a freight train with no wheels. So anyone out there that has any advice on where i can get a reasonably priced waterpump or bearings for one will be a great help. I have been given a fantastically over priced price from one of the agents but man i could do with something about 300% cheaper as seen as my lada is still in need of lots of TLC.... and considering the starter is going to be next. Please help !!!

Autozone has waterpumps in stock I just can not remember the part number.
For the starter I would suggest importing one. You can contact Pavel. Tell him I refered you to him. His email is barter2007@gmail.com. He is getting married on saturday so he might take a while to respond but he is otherwise always very fast with his service.

Hi Chantelle Warm welcome to the forum Autozone has a Saleri water pump that fits perfectly on the Lada for about R300. Unfortunately they might not have stock at the moment but we are currently working on that. Charles has however indicated differently so they might have some in stock. Try your nearest branch - maybe they can get one for you. The part number is FED W18701. If you don't come right you can order one from Pavel as well. Other foreign (and much cheaper) alternatives can be found here>> locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sparep&action=display&thread=652Note that Graf Korvet is not available at the moment as far as I know. Regards Marius PS - i don't think it's rotten lock. I suspect someone has dumped his problems on you!

You sure its the water pump? Could also be the timing chain that needs tensioning.

Thank you to the quick replies.
It could be the timing chain, will look at that the weekend. Just sounds like the waterpump so never thought of that. I have tried autozone and they struggling to find me one. looks like its out of stock but i know they are searching for me. As for the starter i will try Pavel thanks will email him next week then. So hope i can get all these things sorted as i need to put it through roadworthy to register it on my name and as it is they going to fine me for taking so long... more dosh, oh no !!!

Hi Chants
If you still think you do need a waterpump, I might be able to help with a new Saleri waterpump.
I have bought the pump as a spare, and do not need it at the moment . Danie

I believe it is this which continues to make the Lada Owners different from any other vehicle club.
We all want the same thing - A reliable and running lada.

Hi Chants Good day & Welcome. I hope it's not the Waterpump. I've also had some weird noise coming from somewhere and it also turned out to be the Timing Chain. I've hat another noise and it turned out to be a loose CV Joint Bracket.
I've now send Pavel a messsage for Inner CV Joints & Ball Joints. One can be so proud when you've actualy managed to fix something on your car. I've made a simple bracket to adjust a Replacement Alternator.
Enjoy the Lada.
Regards Stephen

Oh my almost forgot, the release bearing on the gearbox also making a lovely noise so that also going to need replacing soon..... Hi Chants I replaced the clutch on my Lada recently and paid just on R1800 bucks for a Luk matched kit. In my case the noise was from the Gear box, but it may be worth a bit of investigating prior to check what may actually be the problem. Regards Vincent
