Damaged Rear Axle wanted for project.
Condition of inner diff components or sideshafts not important. Prepared to buy a bent axle as well.
Could also be swapped for other Lada parts in my possession.
Also prepared to swap a complete front diff, in excellent condition, for a complete rear axle . Diff components must be in good condition though.

A bit hard to admit - the additional spares which I've once bought from a previous owner, included a bent rear axle. At that stage I did not know about steel front diffs, so I've just stripped the diff, thought that I will never use the casing again, and then sold the casing at a scrap yard. If I remember correctly, I scrap yard gave me R18.00 for the casing . Danie P.S. I've added another paragraph to the ad above.

Hi Danie,
I know a gentleman who has recently been in a accident and wants to maybe sell his axle. I will give him your details and he will call you.

Ari what is the ratio on the zook axel? I do not think the lada diff will fit in the zook housing. Also they are getting just as scarce as the Lada compontents.

Not sure of the ratios, but as Danie wants a super niva, it may be worth it for him to look at.

Hi Ari / Charles The standard Lada front Diff is strong enough for my personal driving habits - the only reason why I would like to do a modification, is because I will probably do a diesel engine conversion on a 2nd Lada.
This is still early days, and I am not prepared to spend a fortune on a damaged diff - therefore I have decided to start looking for a damaged rear diff at this stage - before more of these things get destroyed at scrap yards.
Initially I was thinking of getting diff Brackets for a diesel modification, but instead of getting Laser Cut brackets made up by a Laser Cut specialist, I think I will be able to fabricate a Steel Diff myself.
The Suzuki inner Diff components should differ from the Lada components, so I am not interested in a Suzuki diff.

Ari Hi Danie Ari means (I think) using the complete Suzuki axle and diff with gears inside. This has merit. Johan Oosthuizen who bought my 410, dropped a v6 cortina engine in and used the original diffs and the solid prop shafts. It(Suzuki diff) should be able to handle the torque from the diesel with ease

Yes that is what I meant, thanks Spikes. PCD is also the same on the suzuki axles. You should be able to also get multiple ratios for suzuki diffs.

Hi Ari / Spikes
I do not have any knowledge about the Suzuki axles, and I guess the front axles have leaf springs which get bolted to the Chassis beams.
If so, I think the Lada's chassis beams will have to be strengthened to avoid cracks.
If a Suzuki axle gets installed in front, the Lada's rear axle will most probably have to be swapped as well - which means some mods to the axle or chassis at the rear as well.
I am possession of additional Lada diff components, and I think a Lada Steel Diff modification should be far cheaper, and probably less complicated as well.

Hi Danie You could use the standard coil springs from the Lada and prepare a bottom seat for the coil ala Range Rover or Land Rover. That would be something!! Regards Spikes

Hi Spikes Thanks . Unfortunately I do not have any knowledge about Range Rovers and Land Rovers - and this life is too short for me to start investigating that possibility at this stage. Too many things which keeps me busy.... Regards Danie

;D Next time you jack up the rear end of your NIVA, have look at that. Same principle can be applied to a solid front axle.. but as you say enough of the SJ410 axle groetnis

With a few measurements, and a rear diff center as a template, you can build your own steel casing to fit the cast center into. America is the home of custom axle casings, and is where I had the idea from. I haven't build one like this for a niva, but have done one for a suzuki vitara (which coincidentially, the splines of the front vitara diff are the same as a niva's). They call them diamond axles in america: www.diamondaxle.com/index.htmUnfortunately I didnt take pictures of the suzuki one I did

it's the concept that is the useful part. I guess the same as people dont think of turning a rear axle into a front diff, it's not obvious that you could make your own.
