Hi guys, my name is Ross and I live in Hartbeespoort, am 51, a hooligan(still in my second childhood). I own my second lada, 1st was a 1700 carb model which i sold after a year to start a new project......was a mini clubman that i put a toyota gze motor into with turbo, gas..you know the routine(midlife crises). Anyway last weekend i bought an elderly 1600 lada for doing patrols on our plots, she needs some work but still chugs along, once cleaned up i am sure i will be hunting down some spares etc. but nice to be here!!

Hi Ross Welcome to the forum. My own midlife crisis started at age 36 when I did a Chevy V8 engine and gearbox conversion to a Jaguar XJ6 . I am very unfamiliar with the 1600 Ladas - as far as I can remember another member mentioned that his Lada has one of those radiators with brass tanks at the top and bottom of the radiator. Does the radiator on your Lada also have brass tanks at the top and bottom - or does it have plastic tanks on the sides ? If it has brass tanks at the top and bottom, what is the width of the radiator ? Regards Danie

Welcome Ross. The second childhood lasts for at least to the middle 60's. So you will have plenty of time to use your NIVA. Our NIVA also does regular patrols around the housing complex security fence. Of the 12 4x4s in the complex, it is only the NIVA and a 1999 Disco Tdi that can manage the full circuit both clockwise and anti-clockwise. Enjoy the forum and the NIVA Spikes

Welcome. I would suggest that you steer clear of the POWER threads that may have you regressing once again.

A warm and hartly Lada welcome to the forum. The Cape Doctor (Mike) will be able to help with 1600 spares as he also owns one.

Morning Mike, looking for a passenger inside door handle, any ideas? looks like I will have to do the motor at some stage, it is breathing quite a bit but still strong, I have not had much time to look at her yet, business a bit hectic at the moment, I am running the battery centre in wynberg (jhb) while the sibling who owns it is on holiday......4 hrs in peak jhb traffic to and from Harties every day is rough.

Hi Ross
If you have the original Russian mechanism the VW Golf winder handles I think fit.

Hi Ross
I worked in Jhb for 36 years so you have my sympathy as far as the traffic goes. It will be worse (expensive) when the new tolls are in operation
