Excuse me for being under the impression you were running a business! After paying up front, I waited 3 days for a response from you. You then said that you'd be home at about 8pm on Sunday night and that you'd get back to me then! That didn't happen! I had a similar experience with you when you bought my Niva's old motor. After you had paid for it I had to call you a number of times to get you to arrange for it to be collected! I will NEVER deal with you again! Thanks Marius, problem solved. YES I AM RUNNING A BUSINESS AND A VERY SUCCESSFUL ONE AT THAT TOO., BUT ALSO HAVE A FAMILY TO ATTEND TO ALSO...AND IT WAS OVER A WEEKEND...SO PLEASE DO NOT SLANDER THINGS LIKE THIS...IT WAS JUST UNFORTUNATE THAT IT HAPPENED AT A VERY BUSY TIME, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY CLIENT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH, I PROCESS OVER 5 ORDERS A DAY AND WORK ON THE CARS AND STILL NEED TO FIND TIME TO DEAL WITH ALL ONLINE ISSUES AND ALSO HAVE TIME WITH MY FAMILY...SO I THINK IT IS A BIT UNFAIR THE WAY YOU ARE HANDLING THIS.

I'm afraid my dealings with you have left me with the impression that you are unreliable. There are many successful businesses that offer poor service and most of their success is simply due to circumstance. Marius, if you allow vendors to use this forum to promote their services and products then you should also allow legitimately unhappy consumers to give feedback. Nothing that I have said can be seen as slander because "slander" would imply that what has been said is untrue. Mike gave me poor service and didn't do what he'd comitted to do.

Hi Mike and Douw
I have sympathy for the small businessman who needs to look after clients before he can take time off for personal matters. Clients are hard to get and even harder to keep. Unfortunately the customer comes first and play second. I also have little patience when waiting for goods to arrive, and if there is a problem would like to be kept appraised of the situation. I hope lessons can be learned from this episode and steps taken to avoid repeats. This Forum is here for the members, so both parties have the right to debate any situation which arises.

Hi guys
I do agree with Ronnie that customers do come first. I also take my hat of for Mike for making time for his family.
I can only suggest that you guys make peace and move on.

I've replaced the gas lifts on the rear door. The ones that were on there weren't too bad, they still held the door up but not very well...... Hi Douw - I'm having the same problem - could you please let me know where you purchased the gas lifts and what they cost. Thanks a stack. NIKKI

Same story with me Douw - the cold seems to effect it even more! ;D Ari did mention Gabriel - they should have one that fits perfectly, but I remember way back with my Golf these things are not exactly cheap. Let us know what you found. Marius

Hi Nikki & Marius,
I got them from Mintrams Spares up the road from me. I can't remember the exact price but I'm thinking around R300 for both sides. I can swing by Mintrams and get the codes and prices for you.
I remember years back I bought some from Morouns in Jhb but I can't seem to find their number and it's a bit of a mission to get to the city centre.
Mintrams 011 794 3384
I also got the door seals from them.
Door seal code 19-0301 R37.80/m (ex vat)and they are supplied in 5m lenghts Boot seal code 19-0300 R33.52/m (ex vat) also in 5m lenghts

Thanks a stack Douw – those door and boot seal codes are very handy and it will be great if you could get the one for the gas lift when you have a minute.

Hi Nikki and Maruis.
The rear door struts is Gabriel Gaslift #4141-050507 plus fittings to suit the mountings. They also available at Midas and cost around R300-00 for both.

Part numbers and prices from Mintrams 011 794 3384:
GAB4141 / Audi gaslift / R125+vat (2 required) G144224 / Gaslift end fitting / R18.92+vat (4 required) G144229 / Gaslift end extension / R13.28+vat (2 required because these gaslifts are a litte shorter than the stock Niva gaslifts)

When I got my Niva it had 31" tyres on the rear. That is the same as a 265/75R15. That is insane.

Hi Nikki, Panel beaters would normally be able to source"stock" door and boot rubber seals. Touch wood not having had an accident for quite a while I am out of touch with that side of Auto business. Autozone? Midas? Dent-Doctor and Husons come to mind. Dent Doctor is where the Toyota workshop was located before they moved to Riverside. Huson's are in Riverside Industrial Hope you get what you need regards Spikes
