Hi All, After months of struggling with vibrations I have decided to convet my Lada to RWD. I know some (if not all) of you are going to be mad at me but my need for a smooth running vehicle is greater than my need for a 4X4. My Lada recently spent a month at a propshaf, bearbox and diff specialist. When I collected it, the vibration was worse than ever, they had broken the driver side window winder and there were greasy paw prints from the front to the back of the Niva Thus parts available to help anyone in need are: Front and rear propshafts Transfer case Front diff (assuming I can run the Niva without it in place) I also have a complete rear seat that I'm not using. Please make me a reasonable offer if you need any of these parts. These parts will only be available to regular contributors on this forum. Re the RWD conversion - My apologise in advance to Ari and Ronnie in particular Sorry ouens, die vibrations was besig om my mal te maak Thanks, Douw

Hi Douw.
You can run the Lada without the front diff. I saw one a while ago in Benoni. They split the the front drive shafts at the outer CV joint ant use only the outer shaft connecting to the wheels.
The propshaft used was a modified 1400 Nissan ldv.
Regards.

Hi Hercules,
Thanks for the confirmation.
I'm having a complete new propshaft made up by SAJCO in Randburg. They made up a new gearbox flange for me too.
Thanks, Douw

Hi Douw Some "specialists" can be a hazard to your health Perhaps a bit of patients could "soften" the vibration over time Regards Marius

Hi Douw
Its ok we won't banish you from lada events in the future, but why dont you keep your drive train, and work thru it systematically and then try putting it back. You may want the 4x4 capability later.
1 Do you realise the the speedo cable connects to the T/C? 2 In high range the T/C lowers your ratio 1:1.2 so your gears are all going to be higher up 20%. This means you will be reving 20% lower at the same speeds.

Hi Marius, Ya, tell me about it. People don't seem to take pride in what they do anymore. Patience I've got, time I don't, unfortunately. Hi Ari, thanks ;D I'll leave the 4x4 badges on the sides, how's that? ;D I don't necessarily want to get rid of these parts but I'm willing to let them go if they can help someone out. Hence, I said they are availably to regular forum members. 1. Yup, but it's not like I'm gonna be reeling in those speeding fines just because the speedo doesn't work. ;D 2. I didn't know that. But it should be okay. As long as the Niva runs smooth and quiet, I'll be stoked! Douw

Hi Douw Sorry to see you are going to convert to RWD . I would rather buy a RWD car. This really is caused by repair shops who really should not be in business. Also remember if you sell the Lada with no spedo you can`t get a RWC. Ronnie

Hi Douw
To my mind there is nothing with a 2 WD convertion. After all, the car should suit our needs and that's all that really counts.
Please let us know how the Lada behave.
Regards
Danie
