My one rear window is leaking. At the botton in the channel there is a drain hole so the water can run out. The water is going behind the rubber and running down the inside. Has anyone had this problem before. I couldn't see a way to get sealer in there. Will have a closer look at it some time.

Wish I had sliding windows! Even if they leaked.

Hi Charles
Back when we bought our Lada in 2000 we were given the option of sliding windows at the rear. So many of the guys in Cape Town complained about the windows leaking that we gave it a miss.
I think it all depends who installed them in the first place.

Hi Charles The drain holes in your window should exit to the outside somehow. I can only suggest you check for a blockage. Here is a pic of the drain holes on mine. You can see the 3 of them. Ronnie Attachments:

Hi Ronnie
The drain holes is clear. The water gets behind the rubber under the drain hole. It is too small to get the tip of a tube of sealer in there.

Hi Charles Sounds as if you will need to take the window out to fix that one . Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
Taking it out is easy, getting it in is the problem.

Hi Charles
I agree, It looks a very tight fit. At least with the aluminuim fram it will not be easy to break the glass.

I took a bakkie to a canopy place a while ago to have sliding windows fitted. Seeing how much they struggle, keeping in mind they do it every day, I will try and find another way to solve the problem.

Charles/Spikes/Marius/Ronnie Gentlemen, good evening. Just a simple question: "Do you get Ladas with 'Winding'-type Windows in the back?" Thought all 'older station wagon styled' cars is fitted with sliding windows. Still need to see whether our Lad pass the Winter bliss. Winter in our area can sometimes be "stormy", but it's fun. The Lad will will be my primary means of transport this Winter. Charles hope you get the problem resolved, real soon. Regards Stephen

Hi Steve
You do not get Nivas with rear wind up windows. The sliding ones are all aftermarket, and are still available though I do not know who supplies them. If you want to know I am sure you will easily find out.

Charles,
Can you take a pic to show where it leaks? I am having problems "seeing" the issue at hand.

Hi Stephen
I seemed to have missed your post above about Cape winter conditions. If your tyres are good you will find the Lada a breeze in the wet conditions.
Also you have heater that can melt the Siberian Tundra! ;D

Looks like my poking did its trick. Its been raining hard since last night. Had 80mm this morning. No water came in at the rubber. Forgot about the holes for the antenna. Taped them closed today.
