Contemplating different ideas for my "minimalist/incorporated" towbar, I thought about adding jacking points for a hi-lift.
My idea, up for discussion amongst our learned forum, is that I insert 42mm steampipe pieces into the existing 45mm thin wall bumper pipe brackets. Then drilling the holes to fit the normal fastners.
Finally, drilling a hole into the bumper to fit the hi-lift foot pin into the 42mm pipe, giving you 4 lifting points at the furthest corners of the vehicle.
Would that be strong enough?
Or where would one fit other lifting points?

This is what the pin on the hi-lift will look like.

I think that will work. Maybe the pin on the high lift jack will even fir into the standard jacking holes on the side of the vehicle also?

Hi Charles.
It is a great idea. Even if it the standard one does not fit, it would be easy to make one to fit the standard holes.

Hy Spencer
That is all that is required for a high lift jack 2 at the back and 2 at the front

Hi Charles
unfortunately it will not fit, nor is it really required. Having lifting points back and front allows you to jack up and then push the Lada to the side out of the Hole or whatever

Hi Ronnie.
But would you think that it will be strong enough?

Hi Spencer
I am no engineer but I think it would be OK. Also Charles asked about the jacking points at the side ,it is easy enough to make an adaptor for the hilift to fit the side if you really want one.

There is only one way to find out if it is strong enough...

. . . . . . . . . .IT IS . . . . . . . . . I only use a high lift jack. No special mounting yet though. I just stick it under one of the bumpers.

Jack it up and see if it holds up.

Hi Spencer
If you fit steam pipes with the intention of fitting a tow bar to them, there is enough room to drill an additional fixing bolt through the floor. I do not think 1 fixing is sufficient for a tow bar. I would also make spacers to fit inside the steam pipe so that there is no chance of it flattening.
