Hello. I am from Pennington and busy finalising the acquisition of a 1.7 Niva. Neat car with 80k on the clock. I love the fact that ALL the resource I could need is here and available. I intend to use the Lada as a daily driver and have bought it as an important customer on the North Coast needs you to use a 4x4 to access their mining ponds. I cannot wait Immediate mods would be to change all the lubricants to Lubrication Engineers products and then get the car through road worthy. Any help with getting the vehicle onto my name will be greatly appreciated as it currently does not have papers.

I have to say, that I spent 3 days trying to get through the login process and ended up going to a web cafe to complete the process there. Some security setting issue on my local machine.

No way! You live in the same town as our own Lada Dalai lama. Look out for Ronnie on the forum, he's got the most pimped out Niva in South Africa, I reckon.

Hi Vincent
Welcome to the Forum, sorry you had problems logging in it should be no problem. I am also from Pennington, so there should be 3 Niva`s here now. I cannot help you with the problem of papers but I am sure someone on the forum will know.
Ronnie

Much has changed since my first post on LOCSA ;-)
I have just purchased my second Lada. It is a shabby white 1600 that can start and run, is licenced and relatively little rust in comparison to the Rusti.
It is the Quattro spec and was manufactured in year H. It was first registered in SA in 1987.
Initial items that need attention:
1. Windscreen has a crack on the passenger side. 2. The dash looks all moth eaten 3. The gear box jumps out of certain gears. 4. The RHS rear shock mount needs to be rewelded. 5. New rear view mirrors. 6. New passenger window winder mechanism
The good news is that the seats are in great condition and the car is essentially complete, but the interior is partially stripped.
Have a great LADA day.
Regards Vincent

Hi Vincent To be honest - I was checking that ad out at Gumtree at least 10 times. The only reason why that Lada has not been parked in my back yard already - I would have been a dead man by now. Killed by my wife . Danie

Vincent, I actually looked at that Lada and it made me ponder-ponder. You jumped me on it and it makes me even more jealous. ;D
Good luck with the re-build. I'm very keen to see where this is going.

Thanks Jaco. I am not sure yet what I will do with it beyond getting it running and on the road. Perhaps it will now allow me to take the Rustovich off the road to get the rust patches and other niggles sorted out. At that price I was amazed that is sat there ...... waiting for me Regards Vincent

Killed by my wife . Danie Hi Danie For the VERY reason you have expressed the 1600 will "visit" Ronnie before being parked in my drive way. Should you see a mushroom cloud on the south coast, know that you could probably pick up a 1600 AND 1700 for next to nothing ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I have not yet told my wife Regards - From a highly endangered Vincent

Hi Vincent I will look out for the mushroom cloud down the South Coast, but I am crossing fingers and toes that your daughter will be able to convince her mommy to be less hard on her daddy . ;D Anyway. when I decided rather to forget about your new Lada, I decided to treat myself on a Limited Slip diff, or a genuine Difflock from Greece - to compensate for the loss of your Lada. So if everything works out as planned, I will be smuggling a LSD or difflock up the driveway within the next three or four months. Definately less visable than a complete Lada. Danie

Jeez this made me laugh. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she finds out... Thanks Darryn Well worth the risk though. (I still have not spilled the beans ) I am about to go make a cup of hot chocolate for my (still) loving wife. My plan is to soften her up for a few days/weeks/months before finally letting her know. Regards Vincent

Well Spikes, I thought to let her know while I was away in Mozambique or Botswana or even Ghana... That way I can judge whether to extend my visit or whether I can arrive home without too much blood shed. I have always believed that it was always better to be a live chicken than a dead hero Regards Vincent

I think Danie has the best modus operandi...part by part...Shawshank style!
Second would be the chockie in bed idea for a couple of weeks...perhaps more?
Live chickens, dead hero's? I think it is easier to say sorry than please. ;D ;D ;D
You could always just say...sorry Hon, I tripped, fell and the credit card was swiped...
