Hi all I'm moving home from the UK soon and have been drooling over ladas and reading the forum for the last two years. I found it just by a google search - 'Lada Niva South Africa', - got to 'Lada Niva Clubs.co.uk' and found LOCSA on that site. So I'm on the shop at the moment, and being mostly in the dark, I might ask for some advise and if anyone knows any particular vehicles if thats okay? Love reading your posts

Hi Meg Looks like you are hooked! Hope you have a great time with your shopping - feel free to ask for any advice. I am sure you are aware that the Niva has just been brought back into the UK and it has been tested by Topgear. Only available in LHD at the moment. Regards Marius

Hi Meg At lt will depend on where you will be settling in SA. Very good rebuilt NIVA's can be had from Ventz in Natal or Mike in Cape Town. All all cases do not rush into a deal. Research, research and post on the forum.Odds are good(very good) that someone on the forum will know something about a particular NIVA's history regards Spikes

Hi Meg
Welcome to the Forum.
I would also advice you rather to buy a Lada from Ventz in Pietermaritzburg, or even Jan Pretorius in Centurion.
We do have new Law - the "Consumers Protection Act" which will be in place at 1 April 2011. Buying a Lada from an individual who does not rebuild Ladas for reselling will be seen as a "Private Deal" and you will not have any protection under the new law when you buy privately - which could be very risky.
So rather buy a Lada from one of the three Suppliers . Under the new Law they will also be seen as part of the "Supply Chain" - and they do have a liability in this regard as well ,because they all sell spare parts to the public.

Hi Meg
Of the 3 names mentioned for rebuilt Niva`s I do not recommend Centurion Lada as I have issues with the rebuilt one which I purchased. I also think, if you are going to buy from a dealer it would be prudent to wait the short time till the consumer protection act comes into force. Chose wisely and you will not be disappointed.

Hi Hera That is such an unusual colour for a SA Lada - do you know whether it is the original colour? I hope your vibration is sorted now Regards Marius

Hi Marius
Sharkie was white I believe. Nope she still has the vibration thing going we are slowly eliminating the possible causes.

Hi Hera
I think the vibration is one of the most time consuming and difficult things to cure. It nearly drove me mad. I got it to the stage where it was just about acceptable but still not right for me when hercules drove it and reckoned I had no vibration. It just shows you that what one person thinks is different to another. Trust you manage to cure yours to your satisfaction.

Hi guys
Many thanks for the warm welcome and the advise. Ventz, in my home town, has kindly agreed to help me out which is reassuring. I'll let you know how it goes!

When I have money for the "nice to haves" I would like to get my Lada sprayed matt black. Hi Jaco You don't have to spend a lot of money if you like matt black. At work we use a Black Oxide (Plascon Coastcote Etch Primer " Matt Black SNK 10) on some of our products. It is more expensive than other Black Oxide paints, but it looks very good, and it is highly effective against rust. So I thought it should look nice on the Lada - if I am happy with the color on the car it will not get a top coat of any other color: Danie
