Hi sj Warm welcome to the forum. Enjoy your visits!! When I saw your "handle" you gave me a skrik. I often use the abbreviation "sj" to initial paper correspondence and MS office uses it in any comments that I make in documents that come over my electronic desk. For a moment I wondered whether I had re-registered at LOCSA:) As for Conservation, in recent years with all the new construction sites that sites that are not properly secured against erosion, the RSA must have tripled the export of our most precious commodity. Regards Spikes

Hi SJ Welcome!. I don`t think there is much conservation done in this country at all. Most of the government have a more important agenda . I hope you enjoy tis Lada club. Ronnie

Hi SJ Thanks for posting this little "Awareness Campaign" Ronnie is absolutely right in his remarks and we (South Africa) are in serious trouble with the Government granting mining licenses left right and center. Regards Marius

The poll is not right. You can vote yes and no at the same time.

Hi SJ.
Welcome to the forum.
No, conservation in rural areas is lacking. Between poor farming practice, poaching and general mismanagement, I think Eskom with their new tariffs, forcing people to cut energy bills, is doing more for conservation than government

I am aware of the error in the poll my apologies as I am not yet use to using your site but I am learning how to use computers from a friend and the J in SJ as of the 7th of March, no worries she will be caning me into the correct ways of technology so I'll get it for the poll.
The reason I posed the question about rural environmental issues is that I do voluntary work up in the KZN mountains and have found that many users of 4x4's which overnight do believe it's a city dump, and the mountain now barely contains earth as it is just a large pile of rocks, parts of the mountain are now non arable due to this. I hope all lovers of Russian beasts consider environmental effects and keep our planet clean

Hi Sj
I think that all of us drives Nivas because we love nature and want to spent time in it. I have seen how people that drve some of the expensive 4x4s treat the enviroment. For them it is just a playground. Them do not respect the earth and the rules that are set in place. I am not saying all of them does that, but plenty do.

Hey SJ I travel around Africa (Mining Industry) and at times appalled how badly their mining practices are in comparison. That said I would love to assist with conservation projects.
Living in Pennington we have a very active conservancy, which is one of the reasons we live in this particular village.
PM me SJ with more info
