Hi Mike
The only other guy that I knew in CT was Stephen from the Car Shop - he also claimed to be a Jeep specialist. As far as I know they (thankfully) stopped working on Ladas some years ago.
Who else do you know that is still "officially" maintaining Ladas around the CT area?
Regards Marius

Hi Ventz
Great to have you back - it would be sad to see you go - you obviously have a vast technical knowledge, which is a great asset to this Forum.
Your knowledge regarding Throttle Body Injector models will obviously be highly appreciated at this Forum.
From time to time we do get questions about these models from owners who do not find themself near Pietermaritzburg - and while I haven't seen any replies from anyone who have good knowledge to try and solve problems on these models, I am sure your response in this regard at the Forum will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Danie

Thanks to all.
Well, honestly I've never seen any questions for TBI; perhaps I'm not very often at the forum - once-twice a week. And I do not read everything (but my e-mail works 24/7).
But I read the procedure which Marius wrote regarding coolant refill - page No.4. Probably could work, but needs half a day and lot of efforts. It is very easy > 20-30 sec. to chase the air lock away with no warming and cooling down the engine few times (the engine does not need to run), no squeezing the pipes and certainly without bricks. If somebody is still interesting......

Hi Ventz
I must admit I have never had a problem filling the radiator with water. I simply make sure the heater is on at heat, fill with antifreeze and water, start up without the cap on and rev very gently till the air has escaped then top up and fit the cap. After using it once I recheck the level when cold.

Hi Ventz
If there is an easy way I would be most interested!
I think the reason behind the bricks/ramp thing would make it easier for the air to escape.
Thanks Marius

Hi Denise Welcome to the forum - sorry to hear about your terrible experience. As another female Lada owner I can imagine just how you must be feeling but hopefully the guys on the forum will be able to assist. When you talk about ‘overheating’ if there are no other signs besides the gauge – viz. boiling, steam, etc., I would get down to one of the bigger branches of Silverton Radiators who have a type of lazer gun that can determine if the reading on your gauge is accurate. Phone before you go to check that they have this gadget as not all branches do - it won’t cost you anything either! As a female I know nothing about cars but I did have a similar problem a few years ago when ongoing overheating problems caused me a great deal of grief for months. The overheating also resulted in a cylinder head job but the problem continued after it was fixed. I then had the radiator tests and the coolant changed, changed thermostats, then had them removed, changed radiator caps, changed the sender unit, added electric fans and even replaced the water pump. I checked every possible cause of overheating apart from the accuracy of the gauge which turned out to be the problem as it was reading over 20deg too high! I knew this was something I had to check but living in the sticks it took me quite a while to find out where I could get it done. I’m not sure exactly when or what caused the gauge to malfunction but maybe it had something to do with the ‘real’ overheating. Another bit of advice from a female Lada owner – I never let any mechanic loose on my Lada without loaning him a copy of my workshop manual (or the relevant section) so they have no excuses for getting things wrong. You can find this and other technical stuff on the HOME page. I hope that everything works out alright. Best regards could you send me a copy of the workshop manul PLEASE

Hi Guys
The lovely NIKITA is up and running!!!!! ;D ;D ;D She had her new starter and heat shield fitted yesterday and is ‘purring like a kitten’!!! ;D ;D ;D As she had been standing for 6 months I must confess to being a bit nervous when I turned the key but she roared into life on the second attempt!!
Thank you for all the advice!!

Thanks Marius I just changed the coolant on Rusti (Yes even the water was Rusty) and it was dead easy... It has only just occured to me that you live in NW..... and there are only VLAKTES.... My Lada was parked on my drive way at quite an angle and the bleeding was dead simple :-)
