Dear All. Good day. My name's Stephen. We stay in the beautiful Boland dorp Paarl. This is one of the best places to stay. We've got all the elements: heath, cold, bit of snow in Winter on the mountains, wind, rain, sometimes even water restrictions. Best of all we have the great outdoors and suburban life. Great area for the Lada which I hope to have registered in my name, DV, by Wednesday. I would love to be present st the next Lada gathering in the Western Cape. Keep well. Regards - Stephen

Hi Spikes/Stephen
I think Ronnie might be on the mark with the gaurd ring as far as the brakes are concerned - something is missing or warn.
"ALL unpaved water crossings" - that is a good safety precaution not to get stuck with the crocks.
Regards Marius
PS - I will move parts of this thread into the tech section at alater stage.

Listen to the three wise men Stephen! There should be no reason to skim a brand new disk - this could be a major safety issue Regards Marius

Gentlemen, Good morning. Thanks for all the advise and technical info. I hope we'll have a get together soon. The part missing is the Ring, oil seal - item 13 on the exploded view of the steering knuckles and hubs (D400). I'll get in touch with Ventzel for pricing. Just have to get an inventory of everything and place a single order. I thought about replacing the spline part which also has marks. Any advice from you is always welcome and very much appreciated. Enjoy your weekend. Regards Stephen

Hi Stephen
Always fix the problem, do not create another problem. For me If you skim a disc, skim the other the same. If you replace a disc replace both. That way you should have even breaking at each wheel. That is providing every thing else is correct.

I am glad you found the problem. Fixing a problem with another problem is just creating another problem.
