Hi all
Will post photos tonight that shows how much my front coils have sagged.
Has anyone had coils manufactured locally? How much and where? What specs do you have to give them.
What is the free height of the standard coils?
Regards Charles

Hi Charles
Ari`s were manufactured locally but it was a very long time ago, so it is pointless mentioning the price even if I could remember it. Any good spring manufacturer should be able to make for you, there are plenty arround. The specs for the springs are in the manual. Front 278mm long rear 434mm long. I changed the springs in Ari`s as the back sags a lot when loaded for the bush.

Hi Ronnie
Did you fit longer ones at the rear? Do I have to send my old ones in when I have new ones made up? I can buy Ari's old front ones. I think that will be cheapest. He says they haven't sagged.

Hi Charles
Long time ago but I know the rear were replaced as that was where the problem was. I am also sure the front one`s were also changed. I gave them the old ones as samples and told them the approx load I was carrying.
Ronnie.

Hi Ronnie
I am buying Ari's old front coils. I dont think I will ever find coils cheaper. Helps if your best friend is almost as craze about Ladas as you.

Hi Ronnie
I think both. The coils he has in there now cost him a arm and a leg and I think also a kidney.

Mine has also sagged. One of my wife's friend's dad used to be a mechanic for a very long time. He says there's a guy in Silveton in Pretoria who actually re-tempers springs. It sounds a bit far fetched, but I'll let you all know when I know if it's possible. Apparently it's much cheaper than new ones.

I know its cheap to do. We have done it lots of times with leaf springs on bakkies. I am going to buy Ari's old spring.
