This is the front slide plate I have made, Tommorow I will bore two holes in the front for attachment to the tie rod mounts and fasten the rear edge to the sway bar with 8 P clips,it is made out of 2mm checker plate with the checkers faceing upwards. I will bend up the rear one once this one is done Attachments:

Nice Bob
Wonder how long it will take you to smash a hole in it.

I am also thinking of making another slide plate - and I assume holes should also be made to ensure direct air flow towards the diff.
Will the diff not run hotter than normal if air flow gets blocked off completely ?

The diff will be fine, plenty of diffs have no cooling airflow, plus thats the bit I am trying to cover! The "checker" side faces up so the bottom side slides easier. I am on my second front diff so I am now cautious and a slider will prevent any mud/dirt/rocks/stumps/ruts/etc from haveing a direct inpact to the bottom of the diff, the slider will spread the impact out.

Holes drilled, edges trimmed and P clips on and it works a treat, only a minute to put on and get off too!

Well I have been out in the bush half a dozen times and each time it was dry so the plate got a few dirt scrapes etc etc but no rocks, after washing the Niva I found the plate covered in scrapes and scratches so its working!!!!!!!!!!!. We are of for a blast on Saturday morning because it is very wet, very very very wet infact! So I will do a mud test
