Hi Ventz The air con I have installed is second hand. It is a Crisp Air unit. The pipes which were missing I sourced at the scrap yard. R1800 is the total including gassing. Down here they charge R350 to gas. here is the vents I installed today. Ronnie Attachments:

If somebody still very keen for aircon - I've got Lada designed aircons. With every accessories incl inner air guide plate. But I insist for 2 conditions: 1. The car must be fuel injection. 2. The car must be in my place. I prefer to watch the installation of the aircon in the aircon workshop. To prevent any damages of the vehicle from the people which are not proud of their work (very well Charles). For my piece of mind. Hi Ventz Are you prepared to sell aircons (as is - still inside a box) to owners who are prepared to do their own installation, and fully except the risks involved without blaming you for anything in future? If so, could you give us a price on a complete aircon? Another question -what brand and from which country are these aircons ? Regards Danie

Hi Danie and Ventz
An Air Con is easy to install but you must take your time to do the job properly. How the garages manage to do the job properly in one day I do not know. I would say the electrical is probably the most difficult for most people the system requires either 1 mechanical fan and 1 electrical fan or 2 electrical fans. The jury is still out on the standard radiator as I can see a difference in the running of the electric fans, and I have not used it for long distance at high temperature.
Ronnie
PS Danie this should be under the air con thread perhaps you can move it as I ain`t typing it again.

Hi,
No, I not sell them as is. Not at the moment. Will think later; if I change my mind will inform the forum. I'm not charging for my supervise, it's free. Just want to be sure that the cowboys wont damage the car. Because is common matter...
They are Crisp Air either, with one electrical fan.

Hi Guys The thing is I have a tool chest. Things have their places. But they tend to move around. Especially when I have it in a bakkie. I have seen lots of ideas to keep it organized on the UK Ford enthused forum. Just a pity most of the things they use isn't available in SA. Charles Mine is one like this. Attachments:

Hi Charles/Ronnie
Those tool chests are great but I have very basic tools. I did however invest in a good trolley jack. The cheap ones are usefull when you remove the TC or GB.
Regards Marius
PS - I do know a batchelor that has every tool that you can think of in a couple of those stored in his living room! ;D

Hi Marius
It is easy to keep it clean.Tidy up every night before you lock the garage. If you can`t do this at least clean up after you finish each project.

Hi Marius
When I was working I used to visit the pawn shops for tools. Bought plenty for a song. A lot of them are old and are of a better quality than you get now.

I've stumbled across a heavy duty 12 Volt Air Compressor, priced at R399.00 , at Cash Converters this morning. It still seems to be in brand new condition: According to the label it is a "4 x 4 monster heavy duty air compressor" , draws 45 Amps, and the air flow is 150 liters per minute. It also has a built in Thermo Switch which protects the motor against damage from overheating. I am thinking of installing the compressor somewhere inside the engine bay. Danie

Before you install it check to see if the hose is long enough.

Danie, that wiring looks a bit light for 45 amp

Ari, the compressor has got a 10 meter coil air hose, and I think it should be long enough to reach all wheels. Spikes, you might be correct about the cables. Although the label clearly states ""Max amperage draw : 45 Amps" , the in-line Fuse is 35 Amps only. The Compressor is actually bigger than what it looks like at the first pic, so I think it will draw quite a lot of Amps from the battery : Danie

Other thing is it will get very dirty and dusty under the bonnet. I prefer to keep mine in its bag in an ammo box, which can go on the roofrack if space inside is a problem.
But its a good buy and a bargain.

Hi Danie
It will be interesting to see how long it takes to re-inflate a tyre you have lowered for sand driving. A lot of the cheaper compressors take at least 5 minutes per tyre, that is a 20 minute stop for 4 tyres. The good compressors cost about R1800. I also wonder about the 45 amp, it seems very high. It would be a good idea to keep the motor running if you are going to pump for 20 minutes.
