Hi Dawie
I can`t help you but I am sure someone will. What is wrong with your starter? Welcome to the Forum. you are very welcome to join our discussions with which we aim to keep these big hearted vehicles on the road for many years to come.

Thanks for your response Ronnie....
The starter gave me problems from about a month or so back - it made an awful noise when you turned the ignition, but would always end up starting. More than a week ago it just decided it had enough, I guess...some guys here in Somerset West told me the damage is too much - it cannot be fixed...!
So now I am without my Lada and it seems we won't find another starter soon?
There is no other make or model car who's starter would fit and work together with the Lada's, that you know of perhaps?
Thanks...
Dawie

Hi Dawie
If the starter is out of the vehicle try matching it to an older fiat model as the lada engine and gearbox were based on the fiats.

Hi Dawie
Welcome to the forum.
Here is a resource you can try. It's called "Call-a-Part". They send mails to all registered scrap yards in your area and then if no reply send the request country wide. I have been very successful with this.
The number is 0861111777

Hi Hein / Dawie
If you do know about Ladas which have been stripped at scrap yards, please let us know.
All scrap yard details (where Lada parts are available) would be welcome.
Regards
Danie

Hi Dawie
Most things can be fixed. Unfortunately many repair shops are not interested in helping with the more unusual vehicles. If all else fails, you can look at importing a new one. Often it is cheaper than buying locally. Cost + 20% then add 14% vat to the answer. You are left with carriage to add.
