My doughnut dosent have anything in the middle, when it is assembled there is a hollow part/ section in the centre which help centrally locate it on the gearbox, this part is also half of the yoke that hold the uni joint. I have mine out so I will take a pic or two

Hi Bobby
This is the first time I see the doughnut from this angle (last pic).
Does the hollow part of the doughnut indeed touch the outer surface of the flange center section when bolted on - and does the inner section have a firm grip on the center section of the flange ?
Regards
Danie

Hi All I read on the UK forum somewhere that they do indeed use the old Sierra doughnut, so you seem to be on the money Charles. Go and fish around, I'm sure its there. Des

Hi Des
The Sierra doughnut does indeed fit BUT it does not have the lugs to centre it properly. If you use the Sierra one you may have MORE vibration problems.

Hi All
Today while lying under a LR disco 1 I saw that the rear propshaft only has 1 universal and that it has a rubber doughnut at the back to attach to the rear diff. They look similar but I havent taken mine off yet to look closer so it may be the same.

Ari just be careful under the landy. They like to break so much, just now something that can fall breaks. On a serious note i also looked at that doughnut. Strangely the landys doesnt have vibration problems.

They say it doesnt leak. It just shows you that it still has oil in.

Hi Ari
A Landy is just like a Lada, If you don`t maintain it properly it will leak like a sieve. There was not a single drip from mine.

Hi Ari.
My Disco1 has 2x uj's and no doughnut. Your dads Disco must be a 2nd generation Disco1. My Disco also have no vibrations and it does leak oil, but that will stop in the next month.
My dad used to drive also English vehicles and they always leak oil. His comment was that an english vehicle that did not leak oil has no oil in. It also make sure the oil is always fresh in the vehicle.
Regards.
Hercules.

Hi Charles.
The Landy got 295000km on the clock and it was not working when I bought it, a broken speedo cable but fixed now.
Town drive the consumption is 16.6L/100km and open road 13L/100km. with lots of power and torque and the V8 roars like a lion.
Regards.

Hi Ari.
It is the generation 2 . Mine is the 1994 3.5L V8 Manual.
If your dad needs a workshop manual, I've got an electronic manual. Can send it to you.

Hi Charles.
The Lada is better in town but on the open road I prefer the Disco, more space and power and of coarse the air con.
Regards.
