I wonder how much difference that would make.

Not sure but Danie and some others think it might reduce their vibration issues.

Yes it should. I wonder when someone on the forum is going to try it.

I'm thinking of doing it in December when we close the workshop. The welds on the cross member will give me nightmares tonight.

I am not that comfortable with my welding yet.

Why would anyone do this apart from when a non original engine is installed?

Not sure but Danie and some others think ............ Hi Ari You have made a slight mistake by mentioning my name here.......... In fact, I don't consider the front diff as the source of unacceptable vibration problems at all. Once the Lada is been driven at normal speed and the engine is running smooth, I cannot think of any reason why the front diff (mounted to the engine) could cause any vibrations ! And as far as I know the vibrations which everyone is complaining about, is when the Lada is on the open road, been driven at a certain speed - and when the engine is running smoothly . I do agree with Bobby - the mounting brackets (as seen above) are needed when another engine (other than a Lada engine) gets installed. To my mind a mod like this - to eliminate vibration problems, will be nothing than a waste of time and money......... Regards Danie

Hi all
I know this is a bit off topic, but has anyone ever had their front sideshafts balanced? I had a Tiida at work with a terrible vibration. Checked everything and all was fine. Couldn't find the source of the vibration so one day I decided to hell with this and desided now I am going to start at one point and replace everything on the front drivetrain. First thing I replaced was the sideshafts. Guess what, vibration completely gone!

Hi Charles
That seems to be another possibility ...........I don't think anybody has ever considered that possibility.

I will find out from our local propshaft spesialist if he has the capability to balance them. If he has I will take mine to him and see how out of balance they are on the machine.
