Hi Spikes Yes it could have been a Windows 7 issue - I can post pics again AND Charles that handle is a very weak design mine gave me trouble from the start. Best I could do was to drill a hole from the top and secure it with a self tapping screw - it is still working Regards Marius

Its fine you will still learn all the ladas idiosyncrasies with time.
Have you got the bonnet open yet? somewhere Ronnie has explained how to do it if the cable is broken.
Before you buy oil seals you should maybe just clean the diffs with your magic spray and then see if there is still a leak. Just ceck the levels so there is at least some oil in them to possibly leak out.

Hi Ari
Yes i got it open. Will have a new cable made up soon. With the oil leaks i am planning on replacing the oil. Clean everything and then check for leaks. It is the sideshaft oil seal leaking on the left wheel. Do you know if one can get the seal loose? Again thanks for all your help.

No I don't if you can get the seals loose. You know you work at Nissan, and we were all hoping that you would be finding common parts to help us See if it is common to another vehicle, maybe old rear wheel drive Fiats. Ari

You should be able to put the shaft back with the old bearings but you may as well replace them.

Yes I replaced mine a week before I came to visit you, they cost me R80 each, but had to be fitted in a press. and there is a locking ring that needs to be removed and replaced. code is 62208 I think. I have the steering wheel it came with, not sureif its original Ari

From where did you buy the bearings? Is the seal in the kit aswell? R160 is cheap knowing you are running new bearings. What make did you buy? I like the overfenders on your lada. Wish i could get my hands on a set.

You can have my overfenders, bought the bearings at a bearing shop NTS brand , Japanese, they are sealed bearings so not sure what you mean by seal?
Ari
PS you may want to use my overfenders for moulds and make your own as mine have broken and have been patched.

Thank you. You can have that white rim of mine. If you still want it. I mean the sideshaft oil seal. Wil get a local price for the bearings tomorrow. For that little money I can just as well replace them before they give trouble.

Take the tyre off and then measure the distance between the rim egde and the edge where the hub attaches. take this value and the subtract half of the rim width=(87.5 mm)
