Hotstuff thanks for helping Lada owners in the Cape. I also doing auto elect work on Lada's on the East Rand as-well as services and minor repairs. The issue on clutches, I agree that the agents are heavy overpriced with their spares. I got my Lada gearbox overhauled 4 years ago at the agents for a rocking price of R11500.00. I bought last year a headset and inlet valves for R1100.00 and R700.00, very overpriced. My clutch went 2 months after the gearbox was re-con and I started looking for prices on kits. Everybody were knocking the Value clutch set, but I did fit one as it was the only kit available at a fraction of the price of the original kit. The kit that came out of my vehicle consist of a original release brg, a re-con LUK pressure plate and some sort of clutch plate with no name or numbers on. I did so far 52000km with the Value clutch and is still the same as the date it was fitted. The driving conditions include everyday highway driving and crawling, a 4x4 driving coarse at Gerotek, one trip at Hennops 4x4 Trail, Two trips on the Rust de Winter 4x4 Trail and trailer towing when camping and angling. I found the Value clutch stand up to the challenges I put it through.
Regards.

Hercules, my Lada did more than 60 000 km since I bought the car. I never had to replace the clutch, and it is still in good condition. I do not know if the clutch on my Lada is standard or not, and I think all of us might learn something from your experience.
I do not have any knowledge about the Value kit - would you mind to pass more information ? (supplier, price, etc)
I agree that spareparts are heavily overpriced in South Africa, and this issue really worried me for at least the past three years. I do not have any dought that this high prices would eventually destroy all enthusiasm of many owners, who invested their hard earned money in these great little fun cars. For this very reason, I dicided to reveal the names of Russian spare part suppliers on this forum as well........
We all find ourself in a tough economy - and although I am still loyal to our local sparepart suppliers, I beleive that the intelligence of the ordinary Lada owner should never be underestimated..........
Regards
Danie

Hotstuff , glad to see that you managed to get the clutch done without spending a fortune...........fitment should not be too difficult............
Anyway, I think it might be worthwhile starting a new Topic - with details about Forum members who offer services /assistance to fellow Lada owners...........I am sure at this stage Kobus will not regard this as misuse of this website.......
Specs, contact details and pic(s) of the clutch rebuilt could be very helpful to all of us.
Thanks
Danie

Thanks for your hard work Kobus.
It might look like if I am trying to be "Mr Know All" on this forum...... but I do realise that somebody should be prepared to do some work to keep things going..........so when somebody else would be prepared to get involved, I am more than just willing to step back completely.

Hi Marius.
My clutch is still the same as when I fitted it and is very happy with it. I am driving the Lada everyday in heavy traffic and it is still holding together. I did just over 66000km with it.
Regards.
Hercules.
