HI, I have a buyer for my Niva at last but I need to top up the transmission oil due to an oil leak , (the buyer knows about it). I tried from the top according to Baxters website instructions , but when I undo the 3 outside nuts the cover will not budge . Is there some trick to this , or how the heck do I get to the filler plug to the side ?

Hi Graham
Sometimes due to pressure inside the box - or if you use a silicone gasket the leaver part can be quite difficult to remove. Go underneath and take a long flat screwdriver and tap it with a hammer on/ in the seam (not too hard) until the top comes off. Also make sure the leaver is in neutral.
The filler plug is on the left just above the prop shaft if you are underneath. Use a 17 ring spanner - it will also be tough to undo the first time around.
Regards Marius
