Hi guys,
Just a quick question, I need to get insurance for my Lada but Santam says the value for the car is R19k which is nuts!!
I have a 2000 standard 1.7i
Where can I get the value of the car? Because the people at the car dealerships says that there is nothing in the M&M book, it's not listed.

Dude- don't go with Santam! I'm with Outsurance and mine is valued at R35000. My lada is 1997, 1.7- the only catch is that the previous owner changed the odometer somehow to 40000km. if your mileage is reasonable, you should get a good book value and good premiums... and we've never had a moment's trouble with them.
Take it/ leave it.

As far as I know Michelle at Lada Centurion does that for the insurance companies. I simply do not know how they do valuations on Ladas - Jan once gave me a "report" on my Lada, and informed me as follows: 1. My Lada has been involved in a "moerse ongeluk" - and he usually scrap Ladas which are in a similar condition. ( My Lada has done almost 60 000 kms since Jan's report, and I never experienced any major problem. To this day I could never find any trace of body damage to any body panel either.) 2. My Lada's rear axle is bent. (I took the Lada to a wheel alignment specialist afterwards to make sure whether the axle was bent or not - according to the alignment center's computer print the alignment was 100 % correct - and that the rear axle was not bent at all ! ) Since Jan's report I thought that he was perhaps thinking about another Lada, when he gave a report on mine............. Hi Juran
I am insured through a broker with Zurich Insurance. My 2000 Lada is insured for R60000 with them. ( that is what Freda paid Jan for the rebuilt one.) I have checked and in case of theft or write off that is what they will pay. We checked this last week as the yearly renewal came through

Hi Guys I totally forgot about this thread. I phoned Dial Direct the other day, as I am 25, I were expecting a high premium even on a bicycle but they quoted me R380 per month and the value R55 000 which is a lot better than R450 per month for a value of R19 000 for Santam!!

Hi Juran
That sounds great - just make sure you read the fine print to see what is included and excluded.
