Hi guys
Do any of you know wher I can get tyres (175/80/16) with about 50 - 60% tread left? I am a little cash strapped but do not want to drive het with the current tyres on?
Or maybe the russian tyres? how much are they? And are they suitable for road driving aswell?
Enjoy guys!!
Juran

Also, could someone please tell me if this is the only tyres I can fit? Ireally like the look fo the standard rims, but jee...isn't it very hard to find such a narrow tyre for a 16" rim? I really do not want to do anything which would break the car or damage anything in any way?

Hi Juran
The Niva came standard with those tyres - and there were also nobblies available. Both are Russian tyres. None of these tyres are currently available as an import and are almost impossible to get. I know some nobblies are still available from owners but you would need a kidney belt.
There is currentlo no 175/80 tyre available in SA - the closest you can get is a tyre from Michellin but it is very expensive and not really a suitable off road tyre.
Have a look at the tyre thread - we are trying our best to get a suitable tyre.
The widest you should go is 205/80.
Regards Marius

Hey Juran- don't listen to the softies on this forum my heart says the Knobblies are awesome but my head says get something else. I have knobblies and the noise doesn't bother me too much, but I'm starting to get scared of the very imminent rainy season. Maybe look at this link locsa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=forsale&action=display&thread=257&page=1Danie posted it recently and the ad says there are two sets of wheels available. Laters.
