Hi Hercules
The best thing to do is to pay no attention to what Jan says. His mouth only moves in such a way to allow him to make money.

Hi Marius and team Hi to rest of forum I cannot but help to raise a concern. The mails regarding Centurion Lada are getting very close to libel that can lead to problems for the club and its newly elected Management structure. regards Spikes

Hi Spikes
I think you have a valid point there. Perhaps we should rather not take this any further.
However ANY bad service or excessive quotes etc - from any dealer - should be woth a mention on this forum.
Regards Marius
PS - how is the PC?

Hi Spikes ans Marius
Every thing I have said about Centurian Lada is fact. I have photo`s to back up all of my comments. I went to their Premises to address the known complaints at the time and got no reply`s to my questions and did not even feel welcome. The day I collected the Lada the brakes were so bad that when applied hard the vehicle was uncontrollable. I broke down with a broken fan belt at 19.00hrs on the way home. That was the FIRST day. I will do all I can to make sure no one else gets into the position I was in.

Hi guys,
Nothing to do with everything that was fixed. I think these are issues outside the quote?
Ok, I got my car back yesterday. I drove it for a little while and suddenly felt like something was holding the wheel. Then a moment later, a huge thump noise and it was fine again....do you guys think it was the brakes that is just busy seating?
Ok, furthermore,
There is a leak on the transfer case? Is this easy to fix?
There is a noise when I start revving the car when in gear (accelerating) sounds like a vibrating plate?
Then, there is a wind / hum which is coming from the car when driving and when pulling away, a thumping noise from the diff (i think)
The car smells liek petrol inside when driving.
And the car turns like a truck!! It's super heavy, even when driving like 60 around a long bend!
I do not know if some of the stuff are just characteristics but I don't wanna break anything out of stupidity.
Thanks guys
Juran

Hi Juran
The hum / wine could be the tyres, the noise when accelarating sounds like you need to set the tappets (easy) the petrol inside is possibly perished fuel breather pipes the bad turning is tyres and possibly grease on the ball joint(lack thereof)
I'm not sure about the T/C , mine is oily underneath with some droplets but the level doesnt drop and there are no marks where I park)

Hi Juran I did post a reply earlier but it disappeared Anyways all I can ad to what Ari said is that the thump noice could have been your rear brakes - should be fine. The TC is very easy to take down but like Ari said sometimes they can work up a bit of sweat so if you don't see any oil on the floor I would not worry about it. To stop the fuel smell yopu need to remove the fuel separator on the inside next to the feul cap. The fuel lines break off easily. Look for a T that will fit and remove the separator. It is actually a fuel vapour vacume. Regards Marius

Hi Juran
I am a bit worried about the fact that it felt like something was holding the car, and then the sudden thumping noise.
Was this noise coming from the front, or rear axle ?
Again, I would advice you to have a look at the condition of the diff, gearbox and Transfer box oils. While this noise seemed to be coming from the diff, I would have a very close look at the condition of the oil at the specific diff............

Danie
P.S. I do not have any problem regarding facts which have been discussed on this forum before. There have been enough complaints in the past about prices, and it is common knowledge that one Agent often pass comments which does not make any technical sense at all !
If any of the Agents do not like what they see here - tough luck for them ! If any of them are not professional, or fully qualified to back up their "technical advice" or "professional service" - they should not even think of trying to fool the Lada owners of South Africa !

Hi Juran.
The 635 Battery is the wrong battery for the Lada as it is a 45Ah battery and according to the manual it must be a 55Ah battery.
Your 618 is also a bit weak for the Lada as it is a 36Ah battery.
According to the Willard Battery aplication list the 643 is the correct battery for the Lada at 60Ah and alternative the 638 at 70Ah.
The 621/622 Batteries is 55Ah batteries
Regards.

Hi That is interesting because when I was last at a battery place the book they have showed that the lada should be a 618 or 619. Ari

Hi all
A standard Niva is not very power hungry as far as btys go - I replaced the original Russian one after eight years of excellent service.
Unless you have a lot of bells and whistles fitted - a slightly "underpowered" bty should still be fine I would think.

Hi Hercules It is obvious the agent is trying to make money by changing batteries WHEN IT SUITS HIM. . He supplied in my rebuilt Lada a 635!. I wonder how he would explain that Ronnie

Hi Marius I agree parts like that should only be changed when they actually need replacing unless of course they are affecting the performance of the car. To try to take advantage of a client by telling them the parts are wrong and should be replaced is morally wrong and deplorable . It is even worse if the client knows nothing about cars and depends on the garage to look after them. Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
I think it is actually not unusual for dealerships throughout the motor industry to use this sort of tactic to milk costomers. One should be very carefull esp when it comes to replacing parts - allways insist on getting the old parts back.
