Anyone who has any experience with sand ladders or any other product which could be used to recover a Lada during tough offroad conditions, please feel free to make contributions under this Thread. I thought this product could be very useful - just check out the pics on the slide show: www.pillowtrack.co.za/gal.htmlRegards Danie

Hi Danie
I have never seen or heard of this product, pillowtrax but it seems like a good accesory to have just in case you get stuck. Space should not be a problem as they blow down.

Hi Ari I think this Pillowtrax will be quite expensive for our local citizens, but cheap for interested owners from other countries.
The exchange rate of our currency is weak against the Dollar, Euro, GBP, AUD, etc., which makes imports from South Africa (by foreign countries) very attractive............

Hi Danie
They are still on the Landy so unless you want to spend money we will have the use of full recovery gear.

Hi Danie
Unless you are going to holiday in the bush all the time it is pointless spending money on winches etc. In all my years of traveling I never used them. I admit as we always traveled alone I was very careful as if I could not recover myself we could have been stuck for days before any one came past.

Hi guys
At the Melkbos Lada meet - we had a demo on a plastic type sand ladder which worked quite well. Perhaps they are still available on the market?

Hi Ari The Landy returned from a 9000km trip around Namibia 2 weeks ago. It was 1 of only 3 vehicles which managed Van Zyl`s pass and only lost a mud flap. . Remember the Lada and Landy have almost the same suspension and running gear and both have a reputation for unreliability that neither deserve. ;D Regards Ronnie PS the reason I changed to the Landy was it can carry the quantity of liquids required for an extended stay in the bush. Unfortunately the Lada connot carry 500kg of liquids plus everything else

Hi Marius Believe it or not but I can`t remember . They have been here for a long time , I think from Vanchester times, so would be usable on the roads. Any LHD in before the importation ban is still legal Regards Ronnie

Hi Ari I have just checked the spec on the long wheelbase model and it has a payload of 500kg, which is not enough. . I carried over a ton on the Landy and needed double springs on the back. Regards Ronnie

Hi Marius
One of each I think. As far as I remember the LHD one was driven to SA from Moscow by a Russian family, and Michelle drives the other.
