Hi all After faithfully removing the prop shafts for the last 10 years to grease the U joints I decided to try and find a Zerk extension (not the flex one). According to the Ausie Niva forum it solves the tedious task of removing the shafts. I have been trying to find one around here (North West) but with no luck. Anybody knows where I can get one? Regards Marius

Hi Marius
Looks very interesting, not obvious (to me) how it works from the picture. I have a very old grease gun which is very narrow and it also does not work. Until you find out where to get them we will just need to remove the Props.
Regards
Ronnie

Hay there Marius, thats my photo! you should be able to get those extensions from any bearing, industrial supply, conveyer, mineing, big machinery type place. On the end they have a normal grease nipple inside the slideing knurled sheth or you can simplely remove that and attach it to your grease gun and leave in on there. If you get really stuck I can grab a whole lot and post them over, they are cheap in the circles I more in!!

Hi Bobby I was just about to PM you Thanks for the photo - otherwise we wouldn't have known what to look for. All the spares shops I have tried seems baffled by this one I'll keep looking - but it looks like I might have to take up your offer. You don't perhaps have a parts number on that Zerk. Regards Marius

Hi All .
I think I am very lucky, as I have an old ghrease gun that came with a 1976 Land Cruiser 3.8 LDV and it works very well on the Lada propshafts. I do not remove a shaft, I just turn the shaft so that I can reach the ghrease nipple, plug in and ghrease.
Regards.

Hi All
I found some advice at another forum a while ago, and it works very well:
The standard grease nipples can be unscrewed a couple of turns to allow the grease pump to engage to the nipple - when finished, just screw the nipple back in place. I have tried this a couple of times, and as mentioned, it works very well.
More advice from the same source was to use a standard grease gun, and to grind the front end to be semi circular - until it fits. I haven't tried this, but the front connectors on grease pumps are cheap, and freely available at most bigger hardware shops..........
Regards
Danie
P.S. Oh - as far as I can remember, you need a size 13 spanner to loosen / tighten the grease nipples.

Give me a yell if you are extra stuck. it hasnt got a part number on and I cant find my receipt so I will call into the bearing place and suss it out. I know aviation suppliers sell them, so if you are near a large airport see if you can find a aircraft hardware/comsummables supplier and visit them. Aviall etc
