I there, I am fairly new to lada’s but what I know is that the lada only has a center diff lock. This means that it only locks between the front and back diff at the transfer case. Not like other 4x4’s witch can lock on the front and on the back diff (opposite lock). That is why when you have a wheel in the air in front and one in the air at the back you’re stuck (Sorry it happened to me too). A cheap fix for this is to install separate handbrakes for the back wheels so that you can clamp (brake) the one that is spinning. Giving the other that is on the ground the power to pull you out (not ideal though).
If I’m wrong please correct me.
Gerrit

Sounds normal, the center diff lock in the TC only locks the two axle together each receiving 50 % of the torque
The front and rear diff are open sending all torque to the wheel with the least resistance
Advice: If you approach an obstacle engage the center well before the obstacle to gain max benefit.

Gerrit Hi Gerrit You can keep the original hand brake and add two additional levers, one for each rear brake. They are known as Fiddle brakes. Ronnie

you will need to search the net. Once you get the used to the niva you just adjust the line you take through the obstacle ari

I agree with Ari, adjust your line rather so that you keep as many wheels on the ground as possible. It's a lot easier than installing fiddle brakes

i usually only use high ratio using the correct lines & momentum, though in certain cases like i've been in i'd like to have a bit of leverage than having to get off & use a spade :-) !!!

You can't make comments like that and not post pictures of where you've been!

how do you go about uploading pics on this site? i'm using a samsung galaxy s2! basically what happened was & by the way my mate was driving, we climbed a little sand dune & half of the lada was accross the peak & the peak sitting on the under carriage with the lada leaning to the left because of the softer sand! the left two wheels were spinning but not the right two! hence the fiddle gear! also what i also need is to increase the ground clearence, what is the options i have?
