Hi guys.
I am hoping that all you smart people on here can help me with advice. After I installed the 4y engine in my Niva, the 4th gear was popping out. I thought at first it was the thrust ring that got broken or something when the maccie assembled everything. So I had the gearbox taken out and the thrust ring replaced (although the old one only had minor signs of wear and tear on it.) While the gearbox was out, I had my gearbox overhauled. Once everything has been refitted, the 4th gear still pops out, but not every time (it also only pops out when you release the accelerator.) Any advice that you guys can provide me with will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Riaan

Sorry to hear you still having hassles with the box. my gut tells me that you need to take it back to the guys that rebuilt the box, as it shouldn't still be doing that

If it is not the thrust ring then it is probably the syncro's teeth that has worn? It may also be the rear nut that is on the output shaft that is not torqued correctly?

The thing is, the gearbox was working fine until we replaced the engine. once we got it back, it started popping out. Can this not be because of the gearbox and transfer case not being lined up correct as well as being moved backwards by about 3-5mm?

Only other thing I can think of is that if there were some changes made to the bell housing it could well have an effect on the support the thrust ring is supposed to give?

Hi Deanno
I installed a 4y engine, now have lots of power and she goes like a rocket. Fuel consumption is just a bit high.
