My Lada's servo is leaking....! Can it be repaired? Should it be replaces? Is it a DIY job?

Hi Henried
I am not sure if it is repairable, we will have to wait for the experts to respond. However, I potentially have a second hand one for sale from a Niva I am stripping.

Hi Henrie
I am not an expert, but I had a look in the spares manual and the Vacuum Servo unit is a sealed item. If it is leaking brake fluid that is certainly repairable. If it is on the vacuum side you will have no pressure assistance on the pedal. It either works or not. If you have to pump the brakes to get reaction, it is a brake fluid leak somewhere in the system

I have to pump it to get it to work. I took it in, and they could not find any leaks... When they fill the holder with brake fluit, it looses about half in 2 days, clearly visible onder the right weel. Then it stop leaking. I took photos this morning... They pipes looks fine, and I could not feel any oil on them. Then I stick my hand under the servo on the bottom was wet with clean barke fluit.

The master cylinder is dry, but the Servo is wet with oil. Can it be leaking between the master and servo?

When I got home yesterday, I had a look at the servo and surrounding aria to determine where the leak was. I was surprise that there was no oil to be found, you can see there is a leak with the dark dirt packed around the aria, but nothing new. I cleaned the servo and master cylinder, most of the dirt is around the servo. I placed a news paper under the servo and cylinder, to see where it is leaking. Attached photo show the amount of brake fluid that leak during the knight, what is funny is that the brake was functioning normal this morning on my way to work, I did not have to bump it...

I took it in to a Brake & Clutch center who tested everything and determined that it is the master cylinder which is leaking.
