Hi Danie, Excellently thanks, it is a very short drive from our house to the tower. As the crow flies just over 980m. Road consists of dry pebbles so the centre lock can do its bit. Going back down low range 1st gear keeps speed down to between 4 and 6 km/h. Average speed over the 3.9km was 11km/h Am satisfied that the g/box and transfer box is now sorted out Cheers Spikes

Hi Spikes.
Glad the Lada is doing well and that the gearbox and transfer is sorted out. The time starts now to enjoy the Lada.
Regards.
Hercules.

Hi all Just got a Navig8 GPS-580 as a unexpected gift. I'm quite new to this kind of tech and only knew about the TomTom and Carmin series of GPS's. Testdrove it yesterday and it worked fine. Nice thing is that the maps are not only SA but of all the surrounding countries. Anybody to comment on this and the other GPS's? Regards Marius

Hi Marius Don`t know much about that make have had Garmin since mid 90`s. They are constantly updating the soft ware at no charge including speed alerts etc. They also support tracks 4 Africa which are essential for the wild game reserves as it shows all the tracks. I am not impressed with Garmins reliability as the last 2 i bought, 1 for each vehicle is reduced to 1 in dust bin,and 1 works but the bluetooth has had it. I also do not like touch screen, but a decent unit without it is R10000 and I cannot afford that now . Anyway enjoy it. I think they all do door to door navigation and that is brilliant as you input the address and off you go no wrong turns and you arrive at your destination Regards Ronnie

Thanks Ronnie
Nice to hear the upgrades are for free - hope it is the same with what I have? I'll have a look at Tracks 4 Africa - sounds interesting.
